I rate that as one of the most unlikely victories ever around the TT course, simply because the bike was a disaster from a reliability view point, and I believe it was eventually scrapped because of it´s fragile engine design. Yet Mick nursed it home in the most demanding world championship race on the calander at the time. It speaks volumes for Mick's ability, particularly for the amount of feeling required to get a bike home on the IOM.

Didn't it seize on him and he whipped the clutch in, coasted for a bit and let the clutch out gingerly only for it to fire up and he carried on?

Indeed, it seized on the way to Quarter Bridge on lap 1 ! He let out the clutch, it fired up, and because it was wet, decided to tootle round at the edge of the 9000 rpm power band and complete the lap for the spectators to see the bike, only to find to his surprise he was signalled in fourth place, so carried on, wicked it up and won with fastest lap.
