It's going to be hard for Force India to make up their mind. Clearly a case of talent vs sponsors, as all candidates must bring money, but range from underwhelming to very good.
This is the case for Caterham and Marussia as well, but it seems they have narrowed their choices down a lot more.

The amus article names drivers, who have made contact with FI. So Villeneuve, etc names mean nothing. Yuji Ide can also be interested in the seat of Force India and call them if they are interested. Means nothing. What counts, is what FI is interested in. And that's hard to tell at this point.

I think the driver has to be both reasonably good and bring money to get signed. And drivers, who likely have to ability to tick both boxes at least to some extent in contract negotiatons, are probably Sutil, Alguersuari and perhaps even Petrov. I am unsure if Bianchi can bring any money. So let's see.

Charles Pic to be confirmed this week at Caterham.

Wonder if that would also bring Total to the team (although unless they change livery totally adding Total red to the green and yellow would be quite hideous).

As past liveries incorporating the Total logo have shown, they don't give a f*ck. In fact I'm sure they much prefer they're logo sticking out as an eye sore!

If Villeneuve comes back, I want MSC to come back again, too - and as we're already talking, get Mika! :p

According to AMUS, Force India are considering everyone who can drive a car. Sebastien Buemi, Jaime Alguersuari, Adrian Sutil, Jules Bianchi, Heikki Kovalainen, Bruno Senna, Davide Valsecchi, Luiz Razia, Johnny Cecotto, Jr., Rodolfo Gonzalez, Rubens Barrichello and Jacques Villeneuve are supposedly drivers who have made contact with Force India regarding their second seat. It seems, however, that Force India's criteria have whittled the list down to Buemi, Alguersuari, Sutil and Senna.

According to AMuS's linked article, Senna is not on the list.
"Die besten Chancen werden Buemi, Alguersuari und Sutil eingeräumt. Senna bringt zwar eine zweistellige Millionensumme mit, hat aber die Teamleitungen mit seinen Leistungen noch nicht überzeugt."
(Best chances are granted to Buemi, Alguersuari and Sutil. Senna offers a double-digit million sum, but his performances did not convince the team management yet.)

Please let it be Jacque. I would kill to see that.

Well, with the new engines for 2014, his flich throttle technique could prove beneficial...

I took 'yet' to mean that he might yet convince the team, if his performances are good enough (or they choose to overlook his crap performances in favour of his busload of money).

According to adam hay-Nichols Van Der garde is going to Marussia Pic's seat.

So i think it's a battle between Petrov and Kovalainen.

Whaaat? I heard Chilton to replace Pic, with van der Garde taking the remaining seat at Caterham (given that Chilton and vdG have existing connections with Marussia and Caterham respectively).

Surely Force India are considering Senna! Lots of sponsor money and in the better half I would think, of all the names on their list.

Or raise his funding ...

If you're considering the big list yes, but that's including really shit drivers who may want the seat but no way they'll get it. Cecotto, Gonzalez???

Face Senna vs the reduced list of Buemi, Alguersuari and Sutil and you'd take all of them on talent before him. He's really only with a shot if he brings a clearly bigger sponsor package.

For me, it wouldn't be easy to choose between Buemi and Senna.

I see what you mean but I'd still take Buemi. Senna's been through 3 teams and looked poor on all (albeit was never given a 100% fair shot by any of them), whereas Buemi at least has that rookie season beating Bourdais to his name.

I'd take Buemi, then Alguersuari. I just don't think Senna has the talent, when what he has had is 3 full or half-seasons in 3 different environments (2/3rds in either good or proven race-winning cars) to prove he deserves to stick around.

I've never put too much weight on Bourdais' ´09 season, 'cause wasn't there something very unfavourable to him with that car? We often hear a lot about the wrong braking materials (Hitco/Brembo/Carbon Industrie) so I wonder if it was that?

Anyway, I wasn't impressed by Buemi, and not really by Senna either, but atleast he's shown some very decent race-performances against Maldonado.
....and he brings a lot of money.

I would probably take Sutil first (he still has Medion-backing I must assume, for him to allegedly be in the running at all), then Alguersuari.

They should give Sergio Perez time, he hardly knows anyone at the team and once he gets to know his team then he will be more comfortable but it's going to take some time.

But like MW says Perez is the same age as when Hamilton joined, so Perez should perform from the word GO!

When you join a big team like McLaren, you got to perform like Hamilton has, you can't be targeting like 8th place in the first couple of races, must target big if you're going to join a big team.

Hamilton had much more testing with the team than Perez will ever get.

But Perez has 37 races of experience+qualifyings, practise sessions+testing under his belt so he should be well prepared for the task.

Well according to the paddock rumours Kobayashi was already told last week he will not stay with the Sauber for 2013 as a racing driver no matter what he does in races.

Sounds just the opposite to me, she says he could be announced during the race weekend OR after the race, must mean they've already made a decision and are only fine-tuning the details or waiting for best possible PR moment.

If they have already decided they're not waiting for the race result so I think it's Gutierrez who's got the seat I'm afraid. Would be hugely surprised if it was Koba or anyone else.

A bit of a risk having Esteban Gutierrez in the team. Okay, he brings in the money but Kamui Kobayashi has the talent and maybe the money to have the race seat. Why don't they do what Williams are doing with Bottas?

It is a risk but Billionaires such as Slim give offers that are difficult to refuse. The reality is unfortunate for Kobayashi who isn't that far off Perez in point scoring.

Meh, I wouldn't mind Glock, Kovalainen, Kobayashi, Petrov, Senna, de la Rosa and Karthikeyan being swapped with rookies like Guiterrez, Frijns, Valsecchi. vd Garde, Calado, Ericsson, Clos, Magnussen, Chilton, Razia and Bottas.

Money's not such a problem for him (which is why he was able to fund 5 seasons in GP2), the problem is that it took 5 seasons for him to win the championship (or even come close). And even when he one this season, he made hard work of it, with Luiz Razia (who is not the best driver) coming close to taking the title. There just aren't enough spaces on the grid to get him a place on it.

Pantano was always thereabouts with the championship finishing 9th, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 5th, 3rd, 1st. Valsecchi has been 15th, 17th, 8th, 8th, 1st
