I'm surprised that a McLaren, Mercedes or Williams haven't signed Jaime to a third driver role if just to get extra 2013 tyre feedback for the simulator.

Don't think Jaime's feedback will be particularly relevant, hard to compare his limited knowledge with anything since he never drove the 2012 tyres and the testing mule is old and a bit irrelevant to the 2013 cars, i'm sure the data that Pirelli give to all the teams is more relevant than anything a driver can offer. Not to mention the teams tried a 2013 spec tyre in Brazil so they have some info from that.

Bruno Senna two year contract with Caterham claims Brazilian media...bad news if true :( Vitaly or Heikki are better choices but of course it could be that he would be only third driver but doubt it. Dutch media reported Van Der Garde is not in a fight anymore for the seat.

That Senna name must have a big pile of cash behind it, if they can compete with and maybe even outbid a Russian or a guy with a billionaire father in-law.

He isnt that important on Bruno's sponsorship money. P&G is the most important, if I'm not wrong.

So his sponsors has changed attitude? Anyway, moving to the slowest team in F1 once again...

The same Mark Gillan who recently left Williams citing "personal reasons"? Interesting. What's the connection between him and Senna then?

Could be and I sure hope so. Anyway reports in twitter from reliable sources say that Caterhm will announce their driver today so will see.

Don't forget that for some reason (probably because brazilian market is very important for them) Renault wants Bruno Senna to be driving for one of their customers.

Already denied by F1Enigma

Caterham have said clearly nothing is being announced in the foreseeable future as all options are still being explored ...

You're right, Embratel and P&G.
Mr. Batista is just the one that have promoted better this connection.

I don't want to sound like pessimist, but the word in Brazil is that both Senna and Razia are out of F1 for 2013.

P&G was along with Embratel the most visible on Williams. But there is also PDVSA. Could it be that OGX can increase their involvement if Bruno comes to the team that hasn't big oil company as a sponsor yet?

OGX isn't looking good and I guess won't for long, if at all. Mr. Batista will do a lot of noise and fork the minimum money possible to make his logo show and to be able to brag about it.

From a poor translation from Google riddled with mysterious errors, Heikki Kulta is suggesting that Petrov is still the favourite for the Caterham seat and that a certain Japanese driver is on Force India's radar. . .

Petrov funding solves Caterham choice
. . .
Bianchi or Kobayashi?

The second still open seat is India Force, where the Frenchman Jules Bianchi has long been the favourite to partner Paul di Resta.

Behind the scenes the team have expressed an interest in the Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi, while Adrian Sutil's chances seem to be dwindling.

Unless Taki has chauffeured Di Resta, Bianchi or Sutil around Monaco and knows something we don't, I think he's just like the rest of us and wanting Force India to announce their drivers sooner rather than later.

Or, of course, Force India have signed someone else ;) .

Everyone's eyes will be glued on Force India's twitter and they probably won't make an announcement. I think FIA should make a rule by appointing the drivers in the current season.

Why the flying banana-split should they do that?

Was it not on 95 or 96 that Minardi got the second driver in the same week that Australia GP was?

I'm just hoping against hope that Taki Inoue is so over-excited because his fellow countryman has got the drive and WILL NOT be serving up Sushi.

And looking at how late they announced Petrov last year, we may have another month or even more of this stuff. <sarcastic 'yay'>

I think that would have been '96 when Inoue was signed, but lost Marlboro funding and the seat to Fisichella at the last minute.

French journalist, Jean-Louis Moncet, is suggests that Bianchi is the favourite and Force India will switch to Ferrari in 2014 but also Sauber have signed an agreement with Mercedes for their engines in 2014. Interesting, if true. . .

Good news for Jules?

While go-karting in Brazil, Jules Bianchi to follow hour by hour what happens between Mercedes, Ferrari and Force India. As it moves today. Our Alpy06 Sauber confirms to me that signed an agreement with Mercedes for three years from 2014 for the provision of a motor. This was a working hypothesis is therefore becoming effective. That deviates from Mercedes Force India who therefore turn to Ferrari engines. Jules Bianchi, Ferrari drivers driver development, is therefore a real edge over its rival Adrian Sutil driving for the Indian team. Final signature at the 4th week of January. Moreover, Alpy06 tells me that the Mercedes team we reserve a surprise for February 5 at Jerez. To be continued ...

I think it's likely to be Bianchi at this point too. The delay will have been all about FI setting up an engine agreement with Ferrari. I'm not really sure why Ferrari would be that attached to Bianchi when they have Hulkenberg in their family now, but whatever.

Great news for Sauber if they move to Mercedes in 2014, I think they've been held back by getting poorer versions of the Fezza engines. Of course we have no idea who will make the best engine next year, but still. Good times ahead for Sauber hopefully.

Nonsense that has been implied by Peter Sauber himself? Reading the press they've had long standing issues with cost, reliability (particularly 2010, when Sauber went public with their discontent) as well as some concerns they are not getting quite as good tech. Red Bull have raised issues about the quality of the Ferrari customer engines for STR in the past too. They are switching to Renault for 2014.

So we'll have Mercedes, McLaren and Sauber with a Merc engine.

Red Bull, STR, Lotus, Caterham and Williams with a Renault engine.

Ferrari and Force India with a Ferrari engine, assuming the Bianchi to theory FI is correct.

Not sure what is going to happen to Marussia?

If you remember the press release that Force India made in december regarding the financial investment in the team to bring inhouse the development of systems. This is very likely going to cover the areas that Mclaren have been a supplier for over the past few years.
So it could be looked at that F-I were not aiming to continue on with the relationship with Mclaren long term anyhow, even if they do keep Mercedes engines

I think the engines were okay, and it was more the entire package deal they had on offer with Mclaren & Mercedes that sold them to it at the time.

2013 is the first year in which McLaren will be paying for them, but in recent comments Whitmarsh has said that McLaren will use Mercedes "for many years to come". Kinda vague. I too would be interested as to when it officially runs out.
