The Racing Car Association covered a wide range of competitors in the early through late seventies...

I think it was pretty much their motto that 'Racing Cars don't have doors!'

Ian Cook was one of the leading lights for some time and he would like to know what sort of support there would be for a reunion to be held at around the time of the Tasman Revival meeting at Eastern Creek this year.

Ian now lives in Townsville, so he understands that many have moved away from their former homes and might well need more reason to head for Sydney than simply to go to a reunion. So tying it in with the highly attractive Tasman Revival event is logical.

We have set up an e.mail address for people to make enquiries or indicate their interest:

rcareunion@gmail.com

But I'd like to see interest posted here as well. Erol? Streak? Others?

Is there any record of the number of drivers that competed at Oran Park Open & Clubbies during the life of this circuit, I would assume that it would be in the thousands, then add in the Supersprints, could any other circuit in Australia have the same impact on motorsport in Australia as Oran Park did.

Unfortunately, Dan, I think you'd be right there...

It would have to be thousands, just as Calder, Hume Weir, Mallala, Lakeside and Phillip Island would have been. Warwick Farm, too, and Bathurst for that matter.

As for impact on the sport, I think Bathurst would have had the greatest. It was the one where everyone had to go, has seen the most TV, been the icon and all of that stuff.

However, I'd really rather we stick to the topic on hand.

Thanks for your indulgence, Erol, and if there's anyone else you can think of, please let them know... and e.mail Ian.
