Not sure if darren has any information or is just giving his opinion based on what we all know...

Darren Heath ‏ @F1Photographer

#hamilton failed to complete his slow-down lap post Q3 @ #f1spain so will probably lose pole position.

Interesting that he just said that only 10 minutes ago. Wonder if something is up.

Martin Brundle ‏ @MBrundleF1

Could be big problems for Lewis yet as he did not return to the pits after Q3 under power

So the penalty will be to do with not getting back to pits with his own power.

A 5 place grid penalty would make it very tasty with Grosjean, Raikonnen & Hamilton in order.

If they really have to penalise him - although that would be ludicrous - can't they just take away his best time? That way it can't be argued he gained an advantage because of the team "purposefully under-fuelling" the car.

I don't think there will be any penalty given to Lewis. It is said to he had problems with hydraulics and had to stop his car. I don't believe McLaren underfueled him really

Didn't the FIA rule after Lewis stopped at the end of quali in Canada '10 that you have to get back to the pits under your own power. If he gets a penalty it is harsh but it's not like they've just made the rule up out of the blue.

If they under fueled him then he deserves a penalty. It's perfectly clear you have to have enough fuel to get back to the pits

must be error on fueling

McLaren can't be that stupid to risk everything for P1 slot that won't matter either way for race.

My god, what a pathetic team, and Whitmarsh needs to pay with his job.

Every fricking weekend he somewhow, one way or another, gets Hamilton ****ed over.

How can a team with McLaren's experience underfuel for a single flying lap? You know its almost as if it was intentional :/

IF it is low fuel then mclaren deserve the penalty, last I checked the driver doesnt fuel the car himself down at the local esso.

That would make him 7th. His timed lap in the first run in Q3 was 1:22.560.

if they under fuelled him it is another major cock up by the team  as it would not equate to the nearly six tenths he beat maldanado
if it is true then he will get a penalty as its in the rules ,just cant catch a break can he

So, if penalty is given, Kvothe might have to update his sig. ;)

To be honest, this call actually makes sense, this rule is there for a reason. It might not be a rule breaker. But I don't see how this could be Lewis's fault. Will be interesting what happens,

Facepalm from Mclaren. They were so much faster than everyone else they could have half filled the bloody tank and Hamilton would've stuck it on pole.

That is between them to work out. His name was on the pole. Don't tell me he didn't know? Don't tell me he doesn't know you are not suppose to stop on the track in inlap.

It will be almost unbelievable if true. And a damn shame for Lewis. I mean seriously, how much bad luck can one guy have? He totally deserves this pole. Even if he was on fumes.
