Most of the paddock want Alonso to win, some of them don't want to say it, but when they talk to journalist off the record, they cheer for Fernando. But support don't make the car more faster so at the end it's not going to help in any way. At the end if Vettel wins, I hope the people that prise Fernando don't forget the kind of season he has done because Vettel won.

I doubt many, who passionately followed this sport for a longer time, have forgotten e.g. Senna´s 93-season or Schumacher´s 97-season.

Villenueve familty and Brarrichello are supporting Fernando too, but I don't want to turn this topic into a xtreme love fest ;)

So we have Button, Hamilton, Senna (A from heaven, B from earth), Villeneuve, Barrichello, Ronaldo and many others cheering for Fernando - it is just a testament to the wonderful season he has done. To me, the only comparison is Senna's 1993.

The chances to win the title are very little, with this performance are zero, he confirmed on tv that he is not on wet setup, so it's time to think hard about the performance lately.

Let's hope for a miracle tomorrow, you can still pull a miracle from your hat ;)

it's still a wonderful season beside his teammate outpacing him for the last 1/4 of the season when it's crunch time?

And I saw him doing the same on the Spanish TV, but anyway, this put qualy perfomance in another light and give us hope for the race, now let's hope the clouds do their job :smoking:

BBC: His engineer Andrea Stella said over the team radio: "We know the situation is good for tomorrow."

Alonso's been really iffy in qualifying over the last few weekends. That or Massa suddenly returned to 2007/2008 levels.

So Eddie Jordan thinks Alonso will take it? He either wants people to turn on their TV tomorrow or he knows something we don't.

About the set-up, I think it's more than clear that it's a wet setup (at least slightly different), just like Vettel imo.

At Spa 2010 he also had a wet-weather setup. First lap of rain he crashed out....

EJ was right about Michael retiring so we've got the EJ-is-right event out of the way for this century.

Why is it clear?

And about Eddie he's just speculating. He said before Q that he thinks Alonso might take it or that one can never rule out Alonso.

First lap of rain he was the only one who didn't overshoot the corner most others did, including Barichello who crashed into him. His car was damaged after that.

I am quite happy Massa "decided" to be faster in the last three races of the season. In the other 17 races, his contibution for both championships has been pretty useless. People trying to mock about Massa being faster than Fernando are getting something wrong, those are fantastic news for Fernando and Ferrari. It would be a disaster having Massa 0.5 behind Alonso right now.
Tomorrow Massa will race like a demon against Vettel, and if needed, he won't be an obstacle in case Alonso needs his place to get a podium or his position for points.
So well done Felipe.;)

How is Massa being faster than Alonso a good thing for Fernando?
You want your team mate right behind, not several places in front...

Same as in Grid Iron ... he can run interference for Alonso

But again, you want him to interfere BEHIND Alonso, not in front.
Right now, Massa can only interfere Hülkenberg and Maldonado (pre-penalty, Ferrari did not plan for a penalty), while in reality, Alonso should not have even been behind those two in the first place.

That is only valid from Vettel's point of view. He would like Webber behind him and between him and Alonso.
Both Ferraris are behind the main rival. Massa can make more difficult Vettel's race, give position for Fernando if needed later on, place his car between Fernando and Vettel taking points from him if there is the chance, and being helpful to the team. If Massa was behind Alonso, like in 80% of races of this season, those things would be impossible. We need Massa to be in the mix. And we need Fernando being fast in the race and getting a podium, which obviously is exactly what is doing in the last races.

This trail off in performance reminds me very much of Webber in 2010... which later emerged to be partly down to a mountain biking injury. Hopefully Alonso can outpace Massa in the race tomorrow, otherwise he won't even capitalise on a Vettel DNF!
