Nice apex there.
I don't see why he left so much room on the inside, there was easily 1cm left there. He's lost it

Thanks again for sending the image to me!

This is why I watch motorsport. I admire the skills of the most talented drivers, the ones that really goes for it because they have the ability to do so. That's why I'm a fan of Fangio, Rindt, Gilles, Senna, Schumacher among a few others.

PS: Can you guys tell me where have you found that photo, please?

Did you learn anything from this season? What "do well" means? Out of where? 1 sec off the pace from the guy with car/tyre combo working? I don't know, when car performed well , he performed well too, this year.
And I believe he will do very well in Canada. Like in Monaco.

Well he's performed well at almost every race weekend this season so far so I don't see why he wouldn't do well here as well, and what do you mean out of it? Out of the Championship? If so then I think he's already out of it really but yeah if he has another DNF it really is over.

you're welcome, the pic is erally super cool.

THe only thing I can tell from the pic is that he's not on supersofts so it's not from his q3 lap...

other than that...

Well Michael is obviously already well out of the championship, so are you saying that if he has a bad race in Canada he is past it and should retire?

Because you are a member since 2002, I'll give you the benefit of doubt here and assume you're not trolling.

First of all, it's not that he has been underperforming in the previous tracks and it would mean if he didn't perform in Canada, that would indicate it was the end of it for his second career.

Secondly, claiming Canada to be his best track is very argueable. There are, at least, some 3 or 4 other tracks which one can claim to be Schumacher's territory more than Montreal.

I don't know, your post seems so flamebaiting-like and that's not something you expect from such an experienced member.

Schumacher of 2012 have nothing to prove, performance-wise.

I asked, but he doesn't know the original source either. :(

Big thanks for your effort, anyway!

Interesting. Thats Nico and Ross then hinting that they are expecting Schumi at Mercedes in 2013.

After Spain the romour mill was in full swing that Di Resta was as good as wearing Michaels pink gloves and finally giving Nico a proper team mate. One pole position later and Michael is back on top.

I hate the hero to zero nature of how stories are reported. I much prefer Michaels long term view of things. Much more measured.

I hope he does stay on. He still has the driving chops, and he's fun to follow at the moment. If immensley frustrating!!

It was mainly British reporters spinning that Schumacher will be sacked by Merc-story. Theyve always done that. They make a living out of that. Schumacher on the front page = money. I hope they sleep well at night.

If Michael does go I hope Di Resta doesn't get the seat, he's very over rated imo, I'd rather Hamilton or somebody of that ilk filled the seat.

So, I'll take a cue from the thread discussing Canada--what're the odds of winner number 7 this year coming at the 7th race, driving car number 7, being a certain 7-time World Champion who has already won there 7 times? :D

How does Nadal winning his 7th Roland Garros title on Sunday play into this scenario? :p

I'm hoping for a very good haul of points but he has some mountains to climb! The rest is 1, and don't forget about Rosberg as well :)

PS: http://www1.skysport...-Villeneuve-Q-A

Villeneuves part about Senna at Spain is really interesting to read. Seems the armchair experts say Schumacher overcooked it but the real experts are having a dig at Senna for moving around when it's not safe to do so, being at the wrong place with the wrong tyres at the wrong time.

Key word: credibility. When a fan (like me) said exactly the same thing, BB went crazy in response, and now I can wait if the same fans will lecture V. how to drive.

Haven't been watching F1 for a while, but it seems unpredictable as hell, and in those conditions schumi proves he's still one of the great drivers......questionable ethics, but no-one's perfect, least of all me.

Yep. I'm keeping my expectations in check this weekend as well. I'd love for him to get a positive result, but to be honest I'm starting to become nauseated by the fact that some in the media seem to be construing things as if finishing on the podium is a done deal before he's even turned a lap. :drunk:

Oh its very, very possible. Take nothing for granted.

I for one am in no way confident that the tyre will even work on Sunday (I mean, I hope it will, but...) or that Michael will have a clear shot through qualifying.

Some of you may not have witnessed schumacher part1{94-04}, and without that experience you're full of doubt, but as someone whose witnessed that greatness, I have no doubt that this will be schumachers year....in fact the rest of the field will act as the ass end of a human centipede to the great one.
Telemetry and racing experts all agree he's the best, except when it was convenient to label senna as the best for the sake of box office numbers.

Anyway, within a few days, you'll agree with me.

Watched every single one of Schumi's races, thanks. I've been with him the whole way. Strangely you missed out '91-93 - there's some nice drives in those years, I particularly like Italy '91.

He was indeed great. Now he is still capable of being good, but equally capable of duffing things up. Michael is no longer the class of the field, and even when he was he was never immune to the odd 'oops' moment.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of objectivism, a dash or realism, and an absence of arrogance. From the fans at least.

I've noticed this too. Some of it from his usual critics (in the UK at least. Adam Hay Nichols had an article in the paper this morning that was largely positive towards Schumacher rather than the usual diatribe, I think the fumes from the Williams pit fire have affected him).

Its a trick so that if he doesn't win 'as expected' they can say he's rubbish ;)

Watch this over and over and the you'll KNOW why schumacher is truly a genius of driving.
If schumacher had lost even one ounce of his driving skill and motivation, there's no way he could take pole at Monaco.

If Schumacher had been as good as before, he would have had blitzed the field already in 2011. He didn't. He's more vulnerable now because he isn't close to perfect anymore, it's called age. He has lost something but he picked it up again very well this year. And Monaco has always been a good track for him on pure performance against a team mate.

Edit: I checked it, and he practically has been NEVER been beaten by a teammate in qualifying except a really close fight in 2010 vs Rosberg. On race day, except for exceptional circumstances, he was always ahead of his team mates on the track (DNF in 96, 10, 11 which threw him behind his team mate in the results, not counted).

Watch that vid again and let it sink in, then you'll know that the reason schumacher took pole at monaco was because of his greatness, and that the reason he couldn't do anything at other tracks was because of the car.

Well I would have thought in all your F1 watching you would have witnessed on multiple occasions him wringing the neck of the car in practice, often crashing whilst finding the limit of the car around the track. He has certainly lost some of his pace, that's undoubtable, otherwise we would have seen him win a race already, is he still good enough to win? Again undoubtedly, with a car with the competitiveness of this season's but Schumacher in his early thirties would have won with the car he had in the last two seasons.

Agreed, perhaps with the exception of the last sentence.

Nico had a good run in FP1, so we know the car has some pace. His run on the super-softs wasn't too encouraging, but hey--for the most part, the weekend's looking good so far. Let's hope Schumi lays it all on the line for quali tomorrow--second consecutive pole position sounds good to me.

There was clear pecking order between cars last year. So, 4th best car can win only if first three best cars/teams are not there. MS get the best results for the team. Podium and win were very hard possibilities. W01 was harder for MS to drive(first year of comeback, car/tyre combo completely against his driving style), but better comparing to the first three cars. Also win was very hard to get. Both cars have fundamental problems. I have no doubts that in RBR, McL and Ferrari car MS 2.0 could have won races in 2010. 2011 the same thing. In W01 and W02 even young MS could have big problems to win. It would be pure luck.

I'm also a big fan of MSC and I also saw his whole career since 91. The guys was phenomenal in the 90's, great in the 2000's, had some very bad moments in 2010, then the bad moments got more rare in 2011 and now he's doing good. He's not nearly as fast as before but is still quite good.

But there is no reason for you to write such flamebaiting posts, mate ;)

He's not a magician, never was. The driver's are always limited by their car and none of them is flawless and absolute as you portrayed him there. ;)

I can't help but think that in some of the wet races in 2010 and 2011 i.e. Korea 2010, Canada 2011 Schumi Mk1 would have been in with a shout of winning. Therefore I disagree that it would have been pure luck to win, there's no pure luck in F1.

Anyway roll on practice 2, anyone know if it's raining in Canada?
