The car is good, no fundamental problems is a step up, it just needs more downforce.. they are on a good track.

The same thing happened in Silverstone. When in wet he is prone to making mistakes, not so confident.

That does not take away from the fact that the stupid strategist made us the last team to go out in Q2 ...

They are hardly making the right decisions :

last quali -Michael should have been put on inters earlier in Q3
this time - Michael on mediums in Q1; last cars to go out in Q2, didn't help Nico; should have pitted for new wets in Q3

At 1:30, it portrays exactly what happened in Valencia and Silverstone and that is what gonna happen, imo, also in Germany if the race is held on dry conditions

Well, one more thing to add really. Schumacher had a technical problem in Q1. I blame the strategist as well, if you only have one timed lap to get things right, you simply do NOT use the medium compound and take another silly risk. Schumachers 'off the pace' laptime was a bit obscured by the problem (it's vague whether it had been cured when he was on track or not) but I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that.

I don't think we'll be anywhere near as bad as Silverstone as Hockenheim doesn't have a lot of fast corners. I think the performance of the car (comparative to the rest of the field) will be equal to that in Canada. Not the fastest, but not bad either.

With the circuit being dependent on traction and the temperatures being cold and humid, this is Mercedes' ideal element. If we can't perform here then the season is officially lost.

With Rosberg to start from 20+ and Merc's bad long run pace, I think Merc's management body will decide to quit F1.

Nah, I doubt it. Rosberg's victory really ended all doubt of Mercedes quitting F1 earlier this season for as far as 2012 and 2013 were concerned. I firmly believe that they'll be on the grid next year, but if they don't perform then, than I could see them quit.

He said they were able to overcome it and fix it for Q2. He didn't go into any specific details, just said something along the lines of that the car was not doing what it was supposed to do. As already speculated there might have been some overlooked problems from the crash in practice on Friday which acted up or there might be something else.

Then this might be why he was released late into Q2. They were working on the car problems. Hopefully they were completely solved.

Damn, so much promise when they booted on those softs... but the degradation was dismal, he could only match the Saubers towards the end.

Still good point for Rosberg from 20th, 7th the best Schumacher could manage Saubers really really showed Mercedes the way after 67 laps.

not much left of China\Monaco performance. Without the last two brilliant qualifyings of Michael they would struggle to get into serious points.

I think these guys put the car in factory and all go home. On Tuesday they go in factory put car in the truck and they go to the next race.

We might show better in Hungary if we don't destiny tyres. I wasn't too disappointed with the race just that we were beaten by both Saubers, easily.

A Factory Mercedes team should not be getting beat by a Sauber. I wish Schumacher was in the 2nd Ferrari. Least he might stand a chance to win a few races.

I think he should focus on that(to take second Ferrari seat for next year). Will be a big thing for Ferrari. MS and Alonso in one team. Mercedes is dead horse as I said before. Even Ross is not the same anymore.

As stated yesterday, the maximum we could hope for was point scoring positions for both drivers.
In that respect the drivers delivered what the car was capable of so good job by both Michael and Nico.

3 stops is quite excessive and pretty much shows that the car is deeply limited by the tyres and that no performance improvement is being delivered in this respect. We can speculate that perhaps Brawn's insistence on learning the tyres is just helping the team maintain the gap upfront and otherwise they might have slipped even further down! Perhaps keeping Michael on the mediums till the very end and avoiding a further stop might have been a better option. He could have lost a place to the Sauber but he might have persevered in 6th. The switch to softs for Rosberg was perhaps right as a last push from him into the points was more feasible.

I also get the feeling, although I might be completely wrong, that both drivers get an inordinate amount of team messages asking to lift, save fuel, look after tyres and generally adopting a conservative approach as compared to other teams. I think this might be having an adverse effect on the drivers' ability to drive at the available limit of the car as they might be getting over cautious and very tentative in order to avoid making themselves look like fools if the tyres simply fall from under them. There seems to be a lingering whisper concerning tyres at Mercedes and I think the team/drivers might be overcompensating and under performing as a result.

He also stated they fell back in the development race and are in a bad period at the moment and the upgrades are coming later in comparison to other teams.

No other drivers received so much messages to lift or safe fuel. Team is a joke. First we a learning tyres, now we are behind with updates. Jokers.
Team was lucky to have second McL, RBR ,Ferrari and Lotus on a bad day.
