With lotus and mclaren not running their DDRS, i hope that the Mercs can get at least top 4 in the Q3. It would be harder for Rosberg who hasnt had any running, but i dont see a reason for schumacher why he wouldnt be able to extract the performance from the car.

You are going to be dissapointed if you think any Merc will be be in the top 4 in Q3

After FP3, Merc looks like $hit!

Very disappointing.

Schumacher said they wouldn't be too competitive and wasn't expecting anything great for Spa.

His 300th GP is just a formality, I think he is more excited by the events surrounding the race rather than the race itself.

Both must be losing faith in the team, I'm not even holding out much hope for Monza either unfortunately.

One part in me would like to see Schumacher continue to race. But the part that wants to see him quit this abysmal team is growing stronger every week-end.

He would look better in a Sauber....

W03 is only faster than the new teams. Even STR is better now.

Didn't Mercedes do the same mistake with Schumacher earlier this season?

Yeah, they did. But don't expect them to learn anything. They were to busy designing a monkey seat.

It appears that Mercedes has to start last at Spa, it was MS last year :-) MS definitely out in Q2.

This is bullshit, where they that confident, he should have been going for another lap regardless of what time was being scored by Riccardo! Heck, Rosberg has a lot of tyres left, no need to save!

This is stupid.

I doubt we will see a Merc in the top 10, and to be perfectly honest they dont deserve it. Even new teams have major upgrades. Merc never bring anything. Backwards they go.

Q1 result of today is not very supportive of "we are getting better", regardless how you slice it.

It support very well the rumors for team pulling out. The best move by Mercedes. If MS want to stay in F1 there is other options.

Great lap from Michael, but the car is a dog. What can he do? He improved more than half a second on his last time, no more can be done!

Agreed, he did everything he could, car is so far off the pace. I do not want him to continue with Mercedes. Hopeless team. They do not understand what "developing the car" means.

That was disappointing. 13th from Schumacher, the car is slow. Will we see tyre problems tomorrow? I hope not... otherwise we've gained nothing over the past months.

At least Schumacher is around another $100,000,000 better off since the start of 2010. Maybe all that cash will help soften the blow of being associated with such levels of sh*te.

Nico - you need to bail too.

and it will!

I only feel for the drivers. Not the team. The team always say we are not good enough. Yet they do nothing to improve the situation. They will end the year with one of the slowest cars on the grid. If they aren't already.

I told you long time ago - Sauber and Williams. Great cars and teams. I hope they have race pace too. To cheer for them.
MGP is killing my joy for F1.

That is really pathetic.

I cannot see how any driver other than Sutil other those from the backmarker teams will want to race for that team next year.

The double DRS will make Merc look good at Spa, they said....

Mercedes needs to decide what to do.

Either throw a massive amount of money into it and actually make the car and the team better or just pull out and just focus on making engines.

As far as it's worth, Schumacher did say updates were coming. Although much belated, clearly.

Just a modest prediction for Mercedes performance overall in the weekend:

better than Toro Rosso and new teams, obviously, and that's it. I easily see everybody else being faster in Spa.

total opposite from me, I expect them to be pretty good, top 5 in qualifying.

I was completely right :p :| ):

Mercedes best driver was only ahead of both Toro Rossos. Everyother team had, at least, one car faster.

This team is an utter joke

everything as expected. They got slaughtered in the first and mid sector.

Watching Mercedes "progress" has been one of the most amusing parts of this year. MS and NR need to understand that if they want to win a WDC they need to get with a better team.

A place better than Massa and a very good lap from MS I think but still 13th place :rotfl:

Apart from Monza they are lost this year. Spa has long straights in sector 1 and 3, it's not the worst track for them. In dry conditions Monza could be their last chance for a better result. To be honest, with basically zero updates we cannot expect more. This is really pathetic.

In 2010 and 2011 they stopped developing the car mid season but the results seemed to either stay the same or pick up, in 2010 especially. That was put down the team getting better at setting the car up.
I think fundamentally the car isn't that bad, but they've taken a wrong turn with the DDRS and are struggling with set up. IF after Monza they ditch the double DRS and then spend their practice time setting the car up they might be able to get better results.

I don't think is was the car as much as it was the new helmet. The new helmet looked good on paper, but the red helmet is a good second faster.

They should close those DDRS holes up with some putty or something. That's what they do at Kwik Fit.

Job's a gun 'un guvnor!

Hell...it might even work.
