Surprised at the pace of the McLaren's, maybe the second row for Mercedes?

Perhaps Hamilton, but Button lost a lot of time in the pits and he is not that fast over one lap as Lewis. Hamilton Pole is likely, can't see Button grab p2

We didn't see fast lap with SS from MGP drivers. Vettel too.

...but still, I feel Mercedes have been a bit underwhelming in FP2 atleast.

Agree, our boys were focused on race pace doing long stints with both compounds of tyres. Anyway, Hamilton race pace looks very strong, much better than our race pace. I hope for a big improve through the set up for tomorrow if they want to challenge for the win or the podium.

Maldonado and Perez have very good pace. Let see the data. Race pace today is not important. Next two days will be hotter.

Also surprised by the lack of dominance of the Mercedes cars. I thought they would be very fast with their high top speeds.

 They have high top speed? When? They are not in top 6 at any speed trap.

Pace is pretty close for many teams:

I'm not worried. Listening to BBC Gary Anderson seems to think Mercedes were running a good amount of fuel, other teams may have been a bit lighter. He tipped Michael for pole.

I'm not so sure about that - I'm inclined to think Lewis in his McLaren is fastest. Its only free practise, but Merc seem to have run a good tyre test in FP2. I think they are good for top 5 at least, and who knows maybe they can have a crack?

What? It is a high degraddation track, especially at the hairpin...

looks like it could be a one stopper. low degradation. why does everyone think it's a high degradation circuit. its not. feels like hammy vs. mercedes for pole, but then again everytime i think merc will be strong, they are not.

No-one has been able to create a more unreliable car than MGP methinks. A shame for this ruined Nicoś entire session.

And Ferrari as well, it seems from pole position we are down to barely cracking the top 5.

mmmh curious DDRS and one of the best engines and far behind the speed trap top-list. I understood that they use ddrs to get more downforce in the corners, but this is montreal their compromise can't be so big

What are you talking about? How has one missed practice session ruined his whole season?

nobody knows how much fuel they're actually carrying. it's so easy to hide a few tenth here and there, only Q3 will tell. i'm rather optimistic.

What we have here is a problem with communication...

You answered yourself - Nico's session ended before it started. No-one said anything about the season...

Yes, it is better that Monaco FP3, where MS was 0,7 of the pace.

I am not sure what you mean? MS was 0,7s off the pace in Monaco FP compared to his Qualy pace?

I mean FP3. Oops. But I write Q3. He was 0,7 sec behind Nico there. So, now he is "only" 0,3 sec behind Vettel. Still race pace is the king. I prefer best race pace than the pole. Also MS program was compromised, with Nico out of the session. I guess then he has to do the most important things from both programs.

Looking at the timesheet, Michael was losing two tenths at the S1 so far, the others two sectors were good for him. A few minor tweaks should help to address the issue.

I am not so sure there is an issue. They have done the same at Monaco. NR/MS: FP1 10th/11th FP2: 6th/9th FP3: 1st/8th Q: 3rd/1st They do seem to tend to run high on fuel in all 3 FPs, so I would not like to draw any conclusions, apart from the fact that the long run pace looked ok, to say the least. Waiting for qualy now.

Mercedes tend to have a very good speedtrap with DRS and for the race a high topspeed is good for overtaking.

Well AFAIK that was 2 years ago. Maybe sometimes last season too. Not this year though. In Monza, yes.

No, in this season they were very often placed within the top 6 speedtrap list. (I meant the intermediate speedtrap)
