yes, but he left Renault in 2010

in F1 there is waiting time between jobs when you are changing the teams

You are clearly missing my point. If these key recruits were not effectively working until mid/late 2011 at Merc they had little time to contribute to the design of the 2012 car.

We only have to suffer two more dreadful weekends from this pathetic team.

We'll be free of pain come Brazil, chin up lads and lasses!

The drs having will no longer be allowed to have secondary effects next season. It's logical to try a new approach.

Rosberg said to AMuS they improved just by one second since Melbourne.
No wonder why they are where we see them now.
Don´t want to know how much Red Bull improved in the same time...

Witty.

Hopefully this weekend they shall correct some of perception like these (Rosberg thinks). :)

So, Rosberg drove the old config without the coanda exhaust. It was much faster wasn't it?
Why not revert back to the old set-up then?

they are probably going to run both and try to understand why the new one isn't working
I am not defending them at all in their stupidity but this could be a reason to try it

Yeah, they explained it that way. Suddenly Rosberg was back in the top ten time sheet.
The coanda uses a different engine map, with less power. If the coanda doesn't deliver the expected extra downforce it's useless.
I'd say, give them the old spec and let them drive for point's, instead of racing the STR's.

On Sky they said that for FP2 both drivers will use coanda exhaust. So, they will run with it.

They need to give the coanda exhaust track time to learn for next season, driving for a few points at the cost of improving the potential next seasons car is a little short sighted.

Even if it means they will be beaten by Sauber and end up 6th in the championship?
And together with that you give the greatest champ of all time the most crappy car possible to end his carriere with.
I must be hounest, I don't give a shit for this team anymore. I would just like MS to have a driveable car for his last two races.

oh jesus. Their coanda is brilliant. Lotus in 3rd race with Coanda got win, they had few more races, YDT and still revert to old config coz they doesnt work how it works?

Where the ****in **** all Mercedes money goes? for parties? For hiring 20 technical gurus or da **** what? I mean seriously, what the heck went wrong with that team, it is not just they are going backwards, they are like falling down from frickin waterfall.

I thought that they after coanda introducing will get back some lost ground, but instead they are falling back even further. What's wrong Mercedes, why the heck you need to destroy my favourite road car brand? :S

And they were supposed to be in top 3 WCC this year, and now what? ending 6th? sweet god, i'd fire half of the team if I'd be Mercedes CEO

Schumacher struggling for front temps? Load of tyre shake in the slower corners, plus he's weaving on the straights and riding the brake pedal.

I think it's funny because it is a kind of caricature where you stretch things to an extreme but still has critical message. What happened to all the money mercedes invested the last years? Shouldn't they be in the top3 having that much brain power and resources? For myself honest questions you can ask. If you like the form of "caricature" is another one..

Common what has this to do with Schumacher? It's a comic. Nothing special or immature. The team was bad this year. This realization is not connect with being a fan of Schumacher. I guess even neutral viewers or fans of Nico are not very thankful for that "special" year.

but still it doesnt look good for him, if he cant beat Schumi nowdays (for god's sake he is 4x year old). And next year he will have Hamilton as teammate, I believe he will be dominated.

Or maybe, just maybe....Schumacher isn't as bad as you think??
I for one think so, Schumacher is still a bloody good driver and better than Rosberg.
Hamilton vs Rosberg next year will put things in perspective...

you really think that Rosberg will stand any chance? Look what Hamilton did today, in way inferior car (lets face it McLaren is slower than RBR) he managed to give Vettel a hard time.. And he literally destroy Button

The both of you need to lighten up. Especially you Timstr. You act as if Mercedes are a shining team with speed and excellence and it's just Schumacher fans being babies and whining. No points in how many races for either driver, cars with no pace, failures, screw ups, updates that don't move forward, ditching previous updates that no longer work, failed forecast after failed forecast, wrong direction on this wrong direction on that.

You haven't been here the past 3 years. Not much is going to change. The McLaren/Hamilton new comers to this topic/team can dream all day that it's a new dawn and 2013 is a new season with a new car without the errors of 2012 but take it from people who've been here every year. Nothing changes with Mercedes. 2013 will have it's own errors, it's own wrong decisions.

I think that Rosberg en Hamilton will be close just like Schumacher and Rosberg are now.
How do you now RB is way inferior, maybe Vettel is just a faster driver than hamilton?
Also McLaren destroyed Button's chances to a good quali, so no use to compare that to Hamilton either.

Did you miss enitre season quali ? I mean look how Hamilton performs in them (for example Abu Dhabi) and how Button. Button looks miserable compared to hamilton, and tbh I just dont rate Rosberg in that class bracket (bah I believe he is inferior to Button, Webber bracket class)

Starting to bury NR is way too premature. He will give LH a pretty good run for his money. You can't draw conclusions from the past three seasons, and he has put the car further than it deserves to be on the grid too. The contrast is not that big, since the W03 is 1-1,5 sec behind on most tracks in raw speed. That puts the Merc drivers in a position where they have to fight for the sharp end of the mid-field, which is not very rewarding. Today, if there was only a slight difference between the setups of MS and NR, it could easily mean this difference between them, with the usual shxxy attribute of the Pirellis, concerning operating window.

Maybe they thought, after him being much quicker than MSC during FPs while Schumi was using coanda exhaust, the old config was really faster

The question that rises now is if was Nico using it in FP3 as well, though?

Still, his gap to MSC is way too big to put on the count of the exhaust alone. I HIGHLY doubt an update like that, even a quite big one like this, can give 1,4s

Brawn will release a criptic reasoning like KERS or DRS failure etc.

As for FP, track condition were warmer and maybe race setup was to far optimal for qualifying and it him out.

Or.. MGP are still waiting around like clowns and have no idea yet how to go about things. At this point, seriously.. what a joke of team. No way is Nico that slow.. once again the team ruined maximising their point scoring opportunity by stuffing Nico so far back. ARRRGGG.. what a mess.

Nice of them having to how for a 1st lap scrum to help elevate Nico into a higher position quickly.
