Nico struggling on Inters, Michael struggling on wets.. different car setup between them?

Michael had a purple S1 and then was caught out.

I think that MS just miss the right moment ,after his first spin. He did very good first sector.

Yup, he overdid it I guess. Quite a shame, I hope he gets another chance.

My biggest concern regarding Schumi making it to Q3, is that there wont be enough time for the track to dry. All the guys who is within top10 at the moment, does not have a reason to go out and "help drying the track".

Unless they think the track might be dry enough to endanger their position when the green light is finally given.

With a little over six minutes on the clock, they can do a maximum of one fast out-lap and two timed laps.

I feel it was really a lottery with aquaplaning cars all over. I hope they will give the all clear when around the same times (1:59) can be driven.

You're right, they could have gotten pole if they went out on inters first!

Schumacher would have been on pole easy if he'd been out earlier on inters and he had the heat and the knowledge on them... Shouldn't have finished that first lap on wets. Miss the line by about 15-20 and couldn't do 1 more lap.

Still 3rd is a great opportunity!

Great result, but I also have the feeling this could have been pole.

Great save for P3 but starting on Inters would have meant pole. But position doesn't really matter tomorrow when its raining.

Fantastic lap from Schumi!

Shame the team strategy lost him a pole, I'm sure he would have had it.

No. The safe bet was setting a time on extremes first. I imagine MS is getting kind of wary from bad luck, and they seemed to have a strong confidence in the car. He was taking it safe in the first sector even on inters too. What I don't get yet is what happened to NR??

He wasn't on it, whether that be due to being too tentative, tyres not at optimum or over-compensating for a weaker set-up, I dunno but I sure as hell smiled seeing him getting knocked out. :p

I believe the S1 on inters was due to the lack of heat in the tires.

What the? Ok, I haven't watched qualy. So was the car good or bad? It's difficult to tell reading the last page and a half. One minute someone is terribly excited, the next moment I read the "Oh I was fearing this..." type of message.

Which is it?

Well, pace wise Michael was on it all the time. So for quali it was a pole car in these conditions.

The car looked like all the rest looked, really, in these conditions. No one looked good on the fast laps, and then, timing showed the difference. A proper wet weekend is fascinating IMHO.

Sincerely thank you for the straight answer. So, basically, it's difficult to know given the weather and more a matter of "on the right tyres at the right time"?

More of a matter of the right driver on the right tyres at the right time.

Look at the differences between Alonso-Massa, Webber-Vettel & Schumacher-Rosberg. Onboard every car looked a handful but it's fair to say that without DRS and with less time to get tyres up to temperature the Mercedes looks in good hands with Schumacher.

AMuS stated that Merc just tried and analysed different setup configurations this weekend and resigned to test new parts.

Nico?! wtf is happening with you??? Saw they have changing the hole floor in the morning, could be that?!

In wet, Vettel(RBR) is not such danger. Dry is different.

I hate to be negative, but despite a good qualifying effort, that Mercedes looks incredibly unbalanced in the rain. Schumacher was all over the place, and Rosberg didn't have the confidence to push.

Here's hope for a cold, dry race tomorrow.

Thats my worry too, although Michael was fast, the onboards looked like the car was twitching and trying to snap away. I hope its just me worrying too much though. But I think I'd rather have a damp/wet race than a dry one, I simply don't think the car has the pace in the dry and he'll be dropped. Whereas in the damp/wet he can make the difference.

I'm not expecting a win or another podium, but a good points finish would be nice.

Go Michael!!

Kinda makes sense with the weekends expected to be wet. With gps being test sessions as wlel these days, everyone must be planned.

Shit, that pole was for MS. Bad choice with tyres.

Kimi Raikkonen, (6th, Q3 - 1m 53.290s)
“We made a slightly wrong decision by using the full wet and I only had one lap in the restarted final qualifying session with the intermediates, otherwise I think it was possible to have gone faster.

Kimi backs up. MSC really lost another pole there

The car is going to be twitchy when the track conditions are that bad. Schumacher did a masterful job and the result was two seconds clear of the rest of the field. Button couldn't even get out of Q1

I wouldn't worry about Vettel getting past. I would expect Michael to demote Webber to third and then be pushing Alonso for P1.

Mercedes, please make sure you tighten his wheel nuts this time.

This will probably be the one race a season where (ala Monaco last year in his best qualifying position that far) Michael bogs down at the start.

Don't worry too much about the missed pole. He's already done that this year (yes I class Monaco as a pole).

I think given the pace Michael has, and he's starting on the clean side, we could see a very good result from him....but let's not think too much about last year's British GP (I was there, and was not impressed).
