Drivers PC on Sky Sports F1 in 10 minutes.

Great, was wondering about that. Any idea of the lineup?

it says that Sky Italia just bought the rights for F1, so in Italy we'll have the same situation you have in UK with RAI only showing 9 GPs free

Will F1 on Sky be part of your sports package and\or included as part of another package as is the case here in the UK if you have the HD addon?

Bernie suggests that free-to-air coverage could end on the BBC (well, sort of): http://www.guardian....c?newsfeed=true

"We will never move all countries to pay‑per‑view only though it wouldn't make any difference here in the UK," said Ecclestone. He explained that of the 25m households in the UK, "Sky reaches over 10m. We don't get 10m on the BBC, normally about 6m or 7m."

What sort of bogus logic is this?

Sky will pay more than the BBC => Sky will get exclusive coverage

The numbers that matter aren't the viewers.

He's negotiating with the Beeb then. Bit early though the new deal only came last year...

He said that "Sky have done a super job", and added that the live rights slipped through the BBC's grasp due to its complacency. "The Beeb were sure we wouldn't be able to go anywhere else," he said. The BBC was unavailable for comment.

This is a nice bit of BS. It was the BBC that approached Sky and went to BE with the deal.

Part Deux huh :drunk:

Might someone be so kind as to record whatever commentary bits Mr. Jacques Villeneuve does this weekend and put them up on a video site?

Pretty Please?

Thank you

He's laying the groundwork for what will be coming sooner, rather than later.

Quite a lot of the Sky coverage is uploaded to Dailymotion and then linked in here, so I wouldnt be at all surprised if JV's bits are available quickly.

Indeed. I'll be surprised if BBC see out their current deal.

Soooo predictable from Bernie...but it has to be said that the Sky coverage is very good, apart from the dodgy video section. Martin, Damon and Johnny are so much more down to earth than the awful DC and Jordan....the BBC's pretentiousness has permeated to all areas.

Especially as they only get about 1m even thoght the service is effectivly given away for nothing to a large majority of the existing 10m Sky viewers.
Expect F1 to dwindle to a minority sport in the UK like boxing when it goes PPV - just what the F1 teams need during a recession - no exposure -> no sponsors -> no F1.

Great. Sky Go is streaming at about 10FPS AGAIN. This is the second practice day that has been ruined by Sky, and we've only had 7 weekends.

What am I paying £50 a month for Sky?

I know it doesn't help you at all, but Sky Go is working flawlessly for me right now.

I see Sky Sports F1 have gone with the ITV school of advert breaks by cutting people off mid-sentence.

FP1 radio coverage was meant to be on the BBC website but, half way into the session, has yet to materialise...

Bad news on the commentary. I'm told technical problems mean there won't be 5 live commentary for P1. Back for P2. Apologies again

Could not agree with you there old spud. IMO the Beeb are way ahead and as a long-time Sky subscriber I've given both packages the benefit of the doubt. Brundle is a consumate pro for certain, but for me anyway the gang on the Beeb are just more clued in, connected and relaxed. Oh, and having Ben Edwards is extra icing to me.

If you don't like EJ - or DC for that matter, well that's been argued back and forth here, but I will put on record that EJ is a tonic and a real asset to the Beeb coverage. He is not far off being a bit of a genius considering what he has achieved in life, although in the company of Jake and DC he is put up for a bit of Paddywhackery when they get a chance to rib him.

Overall and seven races into the season, it's the BBC for this punter. Sky certainly isn't anywhere close to being poor, but when the competition is as good as theirs is, then they have to raise the bar a few notches - which I am sure they will, they just aren't there yet.

Are you being serious or not? Sorry it's the internet I can't tell :p .
For me I really like Jerome d'Ambrosio, he always sounds like a really nice guy and I enjoy his commentary with Will Buxton on the GP2 races, I find his knowledge of racing good and his english is impeccable as well which is rare (obviously) with foreign drivers.

Edit: Actually did you mean Jaime Alguersuari.

Just noticed that Jake is in Poland covering the Euros. Is Lee going to be hosting the F1 then, 'cos I can't see Jake flying all that way for one weekend?

Loved the F1 show when Johnny Herbert displayed his underarm throwing skills! What a cheeky grin.

So F1 only needs half a million viewers on average in the UK to fill their quota? He really is a sad little moron isn't he? One minute he's happy the Beeb are getting over 4 million viewers and now Sky have accomplished everything. Just goes to show how little contact the sport has with its fans, pathetic indeed. I hope when this happens the sponsors and teams will react. Hopefully the long threatened breakaway series will become a reality and F1 will simply be a piece of history.

With his fondness for adjectives, Legard is much better suited to radio than TV.
