Aww man... I'm afraid Forbes will look at that later this year and make Ferrari look like... nevermind! :/

Note sure Ferrari come out on top looks like an 8 year old girl playing on her dad's laptop. The article regarding driver salaries has as much merit as it requires, Ferrari can't deny articles just because they don't like the content. Don't worry i have a sense of humour but this isn't particularly funny.

Comes across as whiny more than it does witty, but I generally agree with the sentiment of it nonetheless.

Well that was a waste of a read, you could of told us it was just about the PR intern at Ferrari telling us the unreliable estimations of salaries were unreliable estimations.

Well, more than an attack is a defense move. With Ferrari potentially looking to replace Massa, every driver and his agent will have Alonso's salary publication under their arm for negotiations.

If Alonso makes 15M, then many drivers will be offended if Ferrari offers them 15M to take Massa's seat. So, I can see Ferrari being upset at these made-up numbers.

Yeah but Alonso is Alonso. The only guy that can command his money is Vettel or Hamilton. Everyone else will have to take Massa's money or go somewhere else.

for all I know Ferrari could be paying him €1 and Santander €29 999 999 and the Horse Whisperer would still have typed this silly article.

Red Bull.

I think it's a good piece for Ferrari to put out. There are constant rumors & lies about different drivers coming to Ferrari, this and that. There's nothing wrong with them speaking out on it. McLaren did it regarding Hamilton rumors and nobody was in an uproar about it. Why is it a problem when Ferrari speaks out against the negativity and lies?

Perhaps because when McLaren does it, they don't come across as condescending.

Also, to clarify, when I said above that I agreed with the general sentiment of the article, I was referring in particular to the part about the media as a whole collectively quoting itself as a verification for its work--unfortunately this point (and an accurate one at that, in my opinion) lost much of its impact with the childish tone of the piece. If this is supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek representation of Ferrari's stance on things, then it gives the company a very immature image, I think.

Red Bull? They always pride themselves they have a much smaller budget than others? And not just the blabber mouth of Horner, but Newey said it several times too, how much joy he gets of beating bigger teams with a smaller budget.

I thought the whole idea of the Horse Whisperer was to be slightly humorous 'setting the record straight' banter.. this piece really has the wrong tone (someone pissed in his cornflakes?) and it's not even clearly setting the record straight, so it's a fail.

Red Bull are rumoured to have even broken the FOTA RRA (before ditching FOTA altogether).. I think they are one of the biggest spender now, if not the biggest.

It is one of the press officers. I know someone who works for Force India who used to work for Renault. He was the annonymous RPPF1 (or whatever it was called back then). It is not LdM. It is probably Luca Colajanni. It ties in with his wit on Twitter.

Does Dany Bahar still have a login username for Ferrari's website? Because the Horse Whisperer and some of Lotus' recent press releases have a very similar tone to them...

They are setting the record straight by flat out denying they pay Alonso that much. Obviously, they are not going to tell you exactly how much they pay Alonso. That will be quite stupid.

By the angry comments in here, it seems it is not Ferrari's cornflakes the ones getting pissed at. :p

Only the first driver is paid by the main sponsor.

Schumacher was paid by Marlboro, Irvine by Ferrari.
Raikkonen was paid by Marlboro but i'm not sure.
Massa is paid by Ferrari, Alonso by Santander.

At Ferrari, the first driver is always paid by the main sponsor.

Gotta love Ferrari, putting shitty journalist in their place.

Journalist: "Here are loads of Formula 1 salaries."

Ferrari: "You're a ****."

That's hardly putting the journalist in their place, is it? It's stochastic abuse without anything to back it up. Other than a "we're not going to tell you yah boo sucks you're not On The Inside" type snidey elitist arrogant attitude.

If anything, it's contemptuous of the fans who pay money to buy red things.

More like:
- Journalists - bunch of numbers without a source
- Ferrari - not true (no source)
- Forums poster - I don't like Ferrari and Alonso no matter what.
- Ferrari - What you mean with nothing to back it up? We're the ones paying, we should know.
- Forums poster - not good enough for me.

Great piece. Not only does it give solidarity to Ferrari and its fans (siege mentality works in sports) but as a bonus it also has the haters seething with their "holier than thou" attitude. Fantastic!

If you feel that way then you're surely one of the more sensitive kind of person. They're not stupid enough to reveal Alonso's real salary. If one has to reveal the truth to set records straight then it'd be quite easy to get info out of others.

I always find it so fascinating how people in the forums get a rise out of something a driver, team or in this case, a faceless writer says about something. I mean, if you read your own post, you come across just as contemptuous, bitter and scornful as the Horse Whisperer. And on a topic which has absolutely nothing to do with you! I'm not attacking you and I apologize in advance if it comes across that way to you, I'm just pointing out the irony in all of this.

So why have a go at the journalist who reported the salary? Just ignore it and let it slide. Having a go in that way suggests to me that they're on to something. Hacker's Law on reportage: never believe anything until it's been officially denied.

Why are people so upset about this? Its just Ferrari having some fun - I for one quite like the horse whisperer concept as it shows Ferrari have something about a sense of humour.

I will never understand this forum. The likes of Paul DiResta get continually criticised for having all the media charm of a wet weekend in Skegness, but as soon as a driver or team dares to show some personality they are 'bitter' and showing the fans 'contempt'.

There are some posts on this thread a lot more bitter than the horse whisperer article.

I for one don't give two hoots how much Fonzie gets paid. The journalists are probably guessing, Ferrari probably think its no ones business. The media tit for tat is a bit of harmless fun, why so much anger?
