I have a reference that Ingvar Carlsson participated in the Swedish Rally 1979 in a BMW 320i.

However I was never able to have sure if he participates or not. Martin Holmes never puts this participation on their books but it his referred in the book of Jean Paul Renvoizé.

Anyone could help me with this mistery ? If he participated what start number did he had ?

Thank You in advance
Best regards
Jorge

Thank You, BRG !

That is the reference I have !

However Martin Holmes have been there as Haugland co-driver and in the driver's statistics never came that participation of Carlsson.
In World Rallying 2 Mr Holmes says that "a total of 145 crews started the event, the extra 32 were competing in a national event using the same route except for the last 9 stages" ... Was Carlsson running only in the National event ?

Best regards

That's possible, I suppose. Martin H. was pretty meticulous, I know.

I notice on that website that there is a number 114 shown against Carlsson. 145 less 32 is 113, which could suggest that he was the first car of the national event? But he had been doing top level internationals as a works driver for some years by 1979, so why would he run in a national class? And as a Swede, his home event would have been particularly important for him, I am sure.

I was also sorry to notice that sadly he passed away in 2009 which I had not previously known.

Thank You once more, BRG , for your precious help !

It's possible but I've noticed that Nº 114 was Bengt Andersson which finnished 25 overall !
So mistery remains ...

Best regards
Jorge

P.S - another question. Does anyone know the reason of his retirement on 1000 Lakes 83 ?
