Just found the topic and would throw some detail of the tragedy:
In his way from Modena to Lisbon at the wheel of his brand new 0489SA, Fernando Mascarenhas, Marquis de Fronteira, visited his friend and Leopoldo "Polo" Villaamil, a noted gentleman-driver from Madrid, and a proud Pegaso owner, to show his latest adquisition. Just few words afterwards decided to find out who would reach the airport (some ten miles away of wide deserted motorway) first so, late night of August, 4th 1956, duelled at full throtle. Fernando was close behind Polo when suddenly apeared the exit round to the Air terminal in the dark. Polo standed on the brakes and avoided the obstacle but the smart berlinetta PegasoTouring -chassis 0140- finished on the nearby field upside down. Polo escaped with some bruises. Fernando, hidden by his friend, impacted head-on against the round wall.

# 3067 is one of the few 300S of which history is still to be clarified . The Grande Premio of Porto 1956 was 1rst and last race of Mascarenhas with his Maserati 300S in Portugal . After Mascarenas death the car was quickly sold by his widow.... as detailed here:
I think it re-apeared red in 1957 in January at Buenos Aires 1000 km with Moss / Behra /menditeguy # 28 - 2nd , then in February at Cuba GP with Fangio # 2 - 1rst , and in December with a new yellow paint job and green stripes at Interlagos driven by Chico Landi # 82 - 3rd ( see p 234 , 301 -307 in " The Maserati 300S" by Walter Baumer ).
But still no photo surfaced yet of its 1rst race with Masarenhas at Porto GP 1956 !

Hello ,
Finally I found a photo of Fernando Mascarenhas at the wheel of #3067 just before the start of the Porto GP of 1956 . There is a mysterious badge on the side of the 300S , as seen on the cars of the 4 portuguese drivers participating to this race :
#7 Mascarenhas/ Maserati , #8 NogueiraPinto/ Ferrari , #9 BorgesBarreto/ Ferrari , #19 FilipeNogueira/ Ferrari . All of them seems to have the same badge on which was written , I believe , "Escuadra Aviz" or something ...
Somebody can help about this mysterious badge ? Thank you .

Finally I found a photo of Fernando Mascarenhas at the wheel of #3067 just before the start of the Porto GP of 1956 . There is a mysterious badge on the side of the 300S , as seen on the cars of the 4 portuguese drivers participating to this race :

It was in fact #3067 that was raced by Moss/Behra/Menditeguy in Buenos Aires and later by Fangio in Cuba.
I never saw a proper photo of the car with Mascarenhas. He rolled the car in its 1st race with it and died in this silly road accident in Spain only weeks later, driving his Ferrari.
It is most likely that his 300S was at that stage still damaged and located in Portugal and sold in that condition to Scuderia Guastalla (who also had ordered the car for Mascarenhas in Modena) by his widow.
We can assume that it finally came back to the Factory and received some modification on the front- and rear section prior to its South- and Latin American races.

Yes , it is the same badge . Mascarenhas raced the "IV Taça Cidade do Porto" with his Maserati 150S , the 16th of June 1956 . And the day after with his Maserati 300S , the 17th of June for the II Grande Premio do Porto . .

Yes , after its 1rst race in Porto with Mascarenhas the 17 th of June 1956, #3067 was raced by spanish Juan Jover the 4th of August in Spain at the Bajaras GP near Madrid . The car finished 2nd , still with its green color and 2 sided white stripes . Then after the car was sold by the Mascarenhas widow to the Scuderia Guastalla of Franco Cornacchia who returned the car to Modena for an update to the 1957 FIA specs . #3067 was then resprayed in red and shipped to South America for the 1000km of Buenos Aires the 20th of January 1957 : Moss finished 2nd with it ...Then the car was shipped to Cuba for the GP the 25th of February where Fangio won the race...
