Another random question I have been posed:
[i]Dear Sirs
Could you please help, I am Group Scout Leader at 1st Cliviger (St john’s) Burnley.
We are putting together a local history booklet with regard to people buried in the grave yard, to use as a recourse for badge work, members of the armed forces, footballers and famous people.
We have the grave of ”Alan Parker” who was killed at Oulton Park on 30/3/1964,
Would it be possible to have any information regarding this accident as there is little on the internet.
Hope you can help.
Allen Kenyon
Group Scout Leader
Can anyone help?

As far as I can see, Phil, by reference to Autosport there was no car meeting on the 30th March 1964 so was it a motorcycle meeting? Perhaps worth posting on the motorcycle thread
Edit: Yes, he was a motorcyclist, according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia....e_racing_series

The Times of March 31st 1964, mentions the death of Parker and confirms both his age of 27 and that he came from Cliviger. It does add that this was an international meeting, but carries neither a report nor results.

Motorsport Memorial says
Can anyone confirm this? I find it surprising that he would be allowed to race.
It was said that this was Parker's first race after losing an eye in a working accident at a coal mine.
