Latest rumour from blick was that Lotus is still in money trouble and salaries are unpaid even Kimi's so hopefully the sponsorship deal will happend.

If they are finantially in trouble, that explains the decision to maintain grosjean and the cash he brings... How much is carbon fiber these days again? :D

Is there a deadline on when a team has to declare their official title to the FIA?

I hear every year that they are almost bankrupt. Yet, they increase their budget every year (like last year, they spent more than Mercedes). I don't give 2 ****s on these rumors

Unpaid salaries for employees turned out to be completely bs. True, there was some delay with payment for the Iceman but as far as I know it was all about the bonus cash for the points he gathered in a season (he scored more than Lotus expected ;) ).

Finnish press suggests that Raikkonen got 7.8mil Euro in bonus

7.800.000 Euro is definately a lot of cash.

Over the summer Lotus F1 employee salaries were delayed by several days (but only for one of the months). It wasn't reported in the media but it happened!

Quote from Jonathan Noble;
"...new E21 doesn’t perhaps offer all the same advantages as the E20 it should still be quite strong"

Wonder what he's having in mind.

tyre preservation was one of the strong points, maybe that.

You may well be right, which could suggest they are putting more emphasis on qualifying higher.

Not sure if this is appropriate place to ask, but does anyone here know if this site is trustworthy? http://www.grandprix...?filter_reset=1

Official lotus merchandise doesn't sell t-shirts and some other stuff so can't order there. :well:

It's not the right place, but I have ordered stuff from the site including an incredibly expensive model R26 signed by Alonso. They're quite reputable.

Agree, got my Lotus Racing's T127 of Heikki's from their store too.

It's small (1:43 scale) but very detailed and indeed a satisfying buy.

(No worries with ordering from GPLegends. It's a great store, but somehow I end up getting more national VAT/customs fee when I order from them.)

Great news about Honeywell, if true then, but this is another step towards it really being true. Impressive that Lotus won the tow-struggle with McLaren there.

maybe 'debut at a new team', however that would be wrong as well, Senna had 8 in his first mclaren year.

Yes, they supplied Brawn, then Mercedes GP in 2010 and 2011. Wish they went to Puma....

maybe, but we know about coca cola already, so... I'm not saying it will not happen, but I wonder what is the real story here.

Anyway, regarding coca - cola, I expect some cool livery next year. Unless this new 'title sponsor' will mean different colours entirely.

I like the current livery and was pleased that Burn has amazingly consistent graphics. I hope they will be able to keep the same look at they have now.

Looks like that Ciaron Pilbeam left RBR to join Lotus F1 as Chief Race Engineer. He was Webbers race engineer. Great move my Lotus.

Probably not. As Cheif Race Engineer, he is likely responsible for both sides of the garage. Romain and Kimi should continue with their existing REs (Slade for Kimi).

As Chief race engineer, does that mean he will be taking over the portion of race strategy responsibilities that previously were Parmane's? Rennie wasn't chief race engineer, so I'm just wondering who will be doing what relative to before.

OK, here's the deal: Simon Rennie went to red bull to get accustomed to their working ethics, and Kimi follows him a year after when Simon's already well fit in red bull. :smoking: :p

Why people connect Kimi with RBR is beyond me. First of all I don't see a connection between Rennie and Raikkonen. Second of all, they never even mentioned Raikkonen, I believe it is mostly to his age. They want someone that is at age of Hulkenberg, or maybe even a younger one. Not Age-like-Webber-4.

I think people talk about age too much. I don't think that top teams need to make some sort of 10 year investments with their drivers. They should just get whoever is the best right now on a couple of years at a time basis, like in the old days.

If Webber moved team or calls it quits... Who are Red Bull gonna replace him with to fight Ferrari, Mclaren for Championship alongside Vettel, who is going nowhere till 2016 atleast from what Domi etc have been saying.

RedBull racing, triple world Champions, have long ceased to exist to promote inexperienced, unproven drivers. Those days of Junior program is finished as RedBull look to keep momentum to continue being a top team.

Kimi's himself isn't probably looking to continue beyond 2015... 1+2 seasons.. So infact falls in the perfect category as a 2nd Champ to take on the big bad world of F1. RBR is going to take a strong driver instead of new kids lacking the expertise to win both Championships... Not hire young drivers from their training school.

If RBR is forced to change Webber, Kimi's portfolio wins him hands down over 80% of the current grid, including Hulk.

he was sponsored by red bull in his rally WRC adventure and according to Marko/RTL commentators he also was offered a F1 seat at the end of 09 but declined the offer.

Apart from that he also seems to fit the RedBull image the most.
