Sup folks? Who remembers what happened the last time the NASCAR Sprint Cup series raced at Daytona International Speedway?

Yeah, that's right. We saw:
  • Tweeting from the back stretch
  • Dale Jr entering and exiting the porta potty cam!
  • A footrace to the porta potty
  • Dave Blaney leading the race
  • Tide with millions of dollars of product placement that money couldn't buy

Will this weekend be just as wild? Who knows? But here's the critical information you need to follow along and see for yourself. Nationwide is Fri night, Cup is Saturday night.

Tune in sched: http://www.nascar.com/races/tune_in/

If they're going to top this February's race we'll need Kurt Busch to clear the barriers in Turn 1 and collide with the camera helicopter while flicking Vs at Brian France.

As long as I live I will never forget old DW saying "someone should jump in that truck and drive it off the track" while it was fully ablaze. :drunk:

I wish someone had, so we'd have a river of fire all the way to the pits.

Well they could have pulled it forward a hundred feet so it was just a puddle of burning fuel in the grass. And of course a triangular sheet of fire a hundred feet long.

Attention! Attention please! Command is done discussing ramps!
Be advised Pony Fans! Motors Tv has turned to Charlie! Yes! No Live Nationwide tomorrow! You will need to use the secret frequency that is included in chapter 59433 of your code box! Command has already recruited a valiant batalion of Trolls to flood Charlie's Head Quarters using Twitter ammunition. Please stay clear of that area for we expect massive collateral damage!
For our soldiers busy in LOR front, we have secured a delayed transmission on the regular channel at 2230 Sunday time, you can find it here: http://www.motorstv....=2012-07-08&h=4
Command also regrets to inform that it will also be busy facing the evil LOR tomorrow. But do not despair men! (And women!) Command has secured a last minute tactical nuke and will be back in time to assist General Montoya in his 3 stage plan to eliminate all modern track cleaning equipment.
All able personell are ordered to signal any presence of the following targets:
-Dry Cleaners
-Speed on ovals
-Ron Dennis
-Tasty burgers

Please be wary for the presence of the spanish inquisitor Don Alonso. He claims he is in England leading a race. We suspect it's a ruse.

Once all targets are properly signaled the general will unleash his wrath upon his enemies!
Good luck men! And good luck to the Challengers!

just wanted to come out of my lurker mode for a minute to say what a good job you guys do in these threads, they are the most enjoyable ones on autosport by far!

sunday morning nascar (in aus for a US sat race) has now officially become my new obsession. To the absolute disgust and contempt of my wife...

Mmm I love the smell of a new NASCAR thread.
Actually that could just be the lingering jet-fuel.

I know Joonyah now owns the #42 in question, but whatever happened to the actual jet-dryer?
Would have thought they'd make a nice matching set. Maybe I'll make a mock-up 1:43 scale version..

goldenboy- I enjoy the NASCAR threads more than any other on here. Probably because we don't play the 'my driver is better than your driver' malarky that seems to have affected the entire board come the last couple seasons. Malarky I tell you!
That said, Ambrose is clearly the BEST!

I'm going with McMurray this weekend, 100% because of the Team America paintjob. He has a bald eagle painted on the side.

That's Ross, the eternal contrarian.
I think this weekend, being a plate race, I'm gonna pull for the 88.
obviously, once again, being a plate race, it's a crapshoot though.
Oh, and Golden Boy, check out Risil's OP on the irl threads, always a great effort...
'merrican racing is definitely not F1, it's adherents however are surely some of the most decent posters on Atlas

I see Jeffery Eanrhardt is in the #15 for Rick Ware in NNS. Brad quickest in practice for NNS.

BTW Logano will drive the #18 for Hamlin in NNS, Bowyer is gonna run the #20

Cup get higher pressure rad caps, 32 psi this time (was 28 in Talladega, 25 for the 500).

Bill Elliot back for this race, 14th in practice, although only half the field ran.

Gibbs apparently trying to re-sign Logano and Hamlin, so if Kenseth is going there will JG run another car ?

Crafty, Hamlin signed his extension during the week.
And in a fashion typical of the NY Jets, suffered an injury. Before the ink was dry..

Hang on a sec, Phoenix is running a N'wide car?
#1 with Kurt at the helm, sponsored by HendrickCars.com? Good for Finch.
Do they have a plate-track special or something?

I'm disappointed that Cole Whitt is Californian because god damnit no NASCAR driver's name sounds cooler in a thick Southern accent than his does.

Say it in a Keanu Reeves surfer accent and it still sounds like cool whip. :p
Im waiting patiently for him to get his first win. My girlfriend likes him because he's a ginger.

Eh, you guys really need to get out more :) As someone who grew up frequenting short tracks, I've seen my share of incidents and brawls which make this one seem like nothing.

There is some relevancy to NASCAR since it involved Tyler Walker. Am I the only one who recalls him?

Look him up, though the most pertinent info will not be found in his Wikipedia entry (hmmm, some nice editing done by friends?).

Since most short tracks are independent, the most that usually happens is a ban at the track it took place at. The driver/team can usually simply drive to the next short track and race :)

That's clever marketing to call the Nationwide race the 'Subway JalapeƱo 250'.
If they keep the pack as tight as it is, I predict there'll be a few drivers with sore asses tomorrow.
