Its good, but it doesn't mean too much at this point. Its what the teams had to do to pass the tests that might prove interesting once the cars get on-track.

The question is if they tested already used-suspected wing or did they bring adjusted version of it that can pass the test but wont bring benefits with it, cos all teams werte warned of this test so they had time to prepare another versions of FW...

and this from Suzuka:

It looks to me as if those ARE different...

You can't see that from the picture, we need a close up of the 'new' front wing!

Sure but it looks to me as if on Suzuka photo there are no clear cuts on that spot to see, just some light reflection...could be wrong of course...

All pass new flex wing test

The article states "Before this weekend, a 100N (approximately 102kg) load test was applied to an area of the front wing 800 mm forward of the front wheel centreline, and 795mm from the car centre line. The wings are allowed to deflect just 20mm."

Is "102kg" a typo? As far as I am aware 100N is equal to 10.2kg... Can someone confirm what the actual test load is?

100N is definitely 10.2Kg unless he's living on another planet with different gravity.

The 100N is a typo. FIA F1 Technical Regulations:

3.17.1 Bodywork may deflect no more than 20mm vertically when a 1000N load is applied vertically to it 800mm forward of the front wheel centre line and 795mm from the car centre line

Worth noting the teams will have known before we did, so will have had time to bring in a different wing. If the old ones won't have passed the new test.

Also the parts on the cars today are nessicarily those they'll run, as new/secrets parts are kept off until FP.

Is it a new floor? Some modification seemed to be made to create an extra channel. This could be there for a while, but I haven't noticed it yet.

On a race weekend its just not right to see this thread in the second page. Are we already losing interest in this team since Lewis?
Come on guys. I just happened to catch the last half hour of practice 2. Our long run pace looks more or less the same as the bulls( subject to fuel loads) . But i heard lewis's engineer saying that the tyres are holding the same as the bulls and he was a tenth faster than then at that stage of his long runs.
Looks like it'll be a close contest.

Prac is too early for most of us. I was up at 5:45, but that was only because my son was demanding that I fetch him something to drink.

I think the difference in set up , according to Gary Anderson , is something interesting to watch. Especially how their speed trap figures, and obviously lap times compare come qualifying.

We will know more after tomorrows practice, I wonder if the set ups will still be split.

Looks between us and Red Bull.

We can still do it.

I only saw one of hamilton's quick laps in p2 and it was a little scruffy in places. Which says a lot as he was still only slightly off p1. Seemed to treat tyres slightly better than rbr on the long runs

I apologise for feeding the troll but how do you know he isnt a paying member with Mclaren membership? Even if not a fan who celebrates his teams success and feels their pain has more than a right to use those terms. Ok, feeding time over.

Japanese GP: Hamilton believes Red Bull will be the team to beat
http://www.autosport...t.php/id/103091

LH seems to think the bulls are on it...but he does sound cautiously optimistic.....

"The Red Bulls seem like they're very quick," said Hamilton and their long runs were very strong."

But while rating the Red Bull's speed, Hamilton also reckons his McLaren is the most competitive he has ever driven at Suzuka.

"It's definitely better here than it's ever been," he said.

"It's still very close with the Red Bulls, but it feels pretty awesome."

Catching up on the replay, it car is a bit scruffy at one or two places which i think is associated to fine tunning the set-up. Apart from that lewis seems to be happy with the car and so was Jenson in p1.

But RedBull does look good, so for the WCC it doesn't look too good. Maybe we can take the fight to them and win some points and wait for tracks where they are weaker.

Button should deliver some points if we want to win the WCC. Hamilton will extract everything from the car, I have no doubt that he can put it on pole. Vettel and Webber need a dominant car if they want to beat us. Now it's up to the team that they don't screw up and get Lewis over the finish line first.

I think lewis will take pole tomorrow. It will be very tight, but like a Singapore qualy, Lewis has in his skill a few tenths doing the difference. I hope Jenson can take some valuable points for WCC, our two cars on podium is an really dream....

I don't neccesarily agree with that. If vettel is on the money he will give LH a run for it. In singapore I believe Vettel could have gone faster and possibly done about the say time Lewis did. Something must have happened...not sure what. His Q3 time I think was slower than his Q2 time if I remember correctly........

Don't underestimate the bulls.
