In the SAME left corner. Stoner, Spies and Hayden all crashed in the same spot.

This is ridiculous. Spies, Stoner and Hayden have all high sided in the same corner.

In another left corner, just at the race Bridgestone introduced an asymetric tire ...

This is what it has to come down to. We've had the same crash on three different factory bikes.

Spies and Hayden both looked like they'd picked the bike up off the edge of the tire before it lost traction. Strange crashes.

Strange crashes indeed.

And not the first time the Indianapolis Motor Speedway surface has 'rubbed' tyre manufacturers up the wrong way.....

I might be a little concerned pushing hard out there.

How will Stoner's injuries affect the rest of the championship? if at all. I have not seen the crash as i tend only to watch the races.

Heavy crash and glad it wasn't a fractured ankle or worse

Can a rider ever be knocked out during race preparations and still race?

Hayden was knocked out. When he met Stoner at the medical center, he actually thought they had crashed together.

He'd better stay put and not risk banging his head so soon.

Marquez rode in qualifying last year after injuring his head in practice. He did not end up racing, though.

Racing (or doing anything which has a chance of heavy contact, for that matter) with an already banged-up noggin is a very bad idea. Ben got away with it in Laguna. Marquez, I didn't follow his crash, but the effects lasted until the preseason (although it's not just a simple concussion, more of an eye issue) and did some of the sessions while extremely dizzy.

This is what it has to come down to. We've had the same crash on three different factory bikes.

The riders are not blaming the tires but the slippery asphalt. It also doesnt help that there are 3 different types of asphalt and the worst covers 70% of the track.

Spies was on his way to do a 38.6-7 and an eventuel pole. I guess his misfortunes continues.

Without the crashes it looked like a certain Stoner, Pedrosa and Spies podium. Now its more open but I wouldnt be surprised if Stoner showed up and won.

This season does not pan out the way I thought. I was thinking that the new Honda would be superior and with a superior Casey Stoner riding it the championship were a foregone conclusion. Now the Honda is not working as well as thought and Casey have had a horrid season.

Baring a Lorenzo injury I think the championship is over. Pedrosa in with a theoretical chance, but I don't see him constantly beating Lorenzo to the tune of 25 points or what it is between them now.

Does Lorenzo still face possible engine penalties or will Yamaha be able to stretch the rest of them out long enough to make it?

It was a big topic last year with a lot of statistics and graphs floating around. This year I haven't seen the status or that it has been voiced any concern about the number of engines.

Stefan Bradl must be on tenderhooks, wondering how his race will turn out today. It all depends upon Stoner, will he ride or not, if Stoner starts will he retire. Problems, problems....

Hold on a second which championships did Stoner win on a Ducati? He actually only won one and that was with a far better engine and far better tyres than anyone else. Even Tony Elias could have won the title that year on that bike. :p

Seriously though he has been on a downward trend ever since 2007. If the bike was that good then he would not have left and gone to Honda would he. Nah he left it and went to a far better bike and guess what, gave eternal bridesmaid Pedrosa another bunch of flowers to catch. Not unsurprisingly as his talents were honed on the Ducati. I'd be interested to see what Stoner thought of todays Ducati, bet he would like it and actually be winning more races than in his last season with them. Interesting thought.

He has been by far the best rider on the Ducati though it has to be said. Still a moaner though. He moaned when he left Ducati and now he moans when he is leaving Honda. Is there anyone he is happy with? Very unprofessional. He's starting to remind more and more of that other precocious talent John Kocinski although I bet he doesn't do as much cleaning.

Now he was a good rider. Spent all his money on shake and vac though, very sad.

Andy

It´s funny how Rossi "the moaner of the year" is so untouchable - VR has been complaining about the bike through the season, acting like a primadonna and being beaten by Hayden who couldn´t get even close to Stoner

Yeah, weird how people assume that just because someone's won nine world championships and 66 four-stroke Grands Prix over the course of a decade, that their criticisms should be taken seriously.

I dont think anyone is arguing that the bike is up to scratch but his performances relative to his teammate haven't been exactly outstanding

The engine that turned itself into fireworks at Assen was brand new IIRC, there was talk of him taking a penalty towards the end of the season.

I think you start from the pitlane with a 10 second penalty, as I recall Rossi did at Aragon last year after using a 7th engine in the warm-up.

Actually I thought of a wrinkle that the rule makers missed, use a 7th engine in the warm-up, then start from the pitlane after 10 seconds, with an 8th engine in the bike.

That way you could get two new engine for one pitlane start.

That's the thing though, Hayden knocked himself out pushing that bike. Barbera is also out, and Abraham has missed races. Rossi is the only one not to miss races pushing that Ducati, seemingly as he isn't.

Rossi has had his fair share of crashes on the Ducati, and almost crashed at the same place as Haydon on his last qualifying run.

It's stupid to suggest that he doesn't push, just because he hasn't injured himself in one of his many crashes.

He has not been on the pace in qualifying on many occasions because the new softs hasnt worked for him at the end of qualifying.

He's not moaner of the year, Stoner even moaned about Indy track in the press conference. Rossi has not been diplomatic though like Hayden has been and I respect Nicky more so for that. Rossi is now a case of out of the frying pan into the fire and now back into the frying pan again, though a fan I am not sure this is the right decision.

Got to say that I am going to agree with Stoner on this track, it's not good for the spectator. The first two races have been dire, except for one lap in Moto3. One lousy lap. God know what that means for the MotoGp race. And as for being at this historic track, you can hardly tell it from adam during the race until they get on the start finish line. F1 did better.

What I would like to see is rather than just MotoGP at Leguna Seca they have Moto3 and 2 there as well and cut them from here. Leguna is a short twisty track and the Moto3 and Moto2 guys would lap it up ( pardon the pun) and give us a lot more interest.

Having said that now expect the best MotoGp race of the last 4000 years just to prove me wrong
