I'm pretty surprised that the Attack guys went as quickly as they did. No-mans land still but that's the first time the bike had been ridden on a track. Ohlins failed to some through with the shock that the bike was designed for and so it was redesigned but not in time to make the planned test.

I'm wondering if Josh Hayes on a DMG Yamaha R1 could outqualify some of the CRTs... different tyres so you would never know, but first practice and he already had a faster lap than 6 of them.

This is definitely the track where you'd expect that. Having a well designed chassis and nailing the setup is way more important than being lighter and more powerful. That R1 is on its third year of development and Josh is the best rider in the country at the moment.

Spies said in an interview that it is already settled what he is doing next year. He just cant/wont say it yet.

This, and the previous "Working for Yamaha" gag when he was pretending to be the security guard :)

I already suggested that he should become a comedian when he retires. :p

Got the feeling Stoner would have been on pole without Petrucci.

Lorenzo was two tenths down on Stoner in the first sector of his Pole lap. I wonder if he made a mistake (was too cautious), Stoner was on fire or a combination of both.

Yeah going by the sectors I'd say Stoner could have done a 20.4 if he hadn't run into Petrucci. Bad luck, but points are tomorrow.

Rossi was awful though. He is 2 seconds off the pole and 8 tenths behind Hayden. Looks like he has already finished the chapter mentally...

Seemed like just another poor qualifying for Rossi. I'd still expect him to be fighting the satellite Hondas and Ducatis tomorrow.

I would love to see Iannone jive with the Ducati and fly.

Probably won't, though. :(

I also believe Stoner would have gotten the pole had it not been for Petrucci but well that's how it goes i was pleasantly surprised he was that fast already did not expect that actually. Rossi again a poor qualifying 0.8 behind Hayden is just too much.

Very good pace pace times from Stoner, Pedrosa and Lorenso, especially the latter. Could be a ding dong battle as long as Stoner likes the tyre. I guess it is going to be hot?? Therefore will the all go for the safer hard tyres? Lorenso perhaps not???

So Hayden stays at Ducati, good news, There is an interesting piece on superbikeplanet about what Rossi may get staying at Ducati v going to Yamaha money wise, of course it is a lot more at Ducati. Is Rossi's tax sorted out yet ? :) Looks like it's a money v good bike offer.

Spies moving to BMW now seems to be fimring up.

Given the above 2 things Cal now seems to be putting out comments saying how much he would like to stay at Yamaha, big bucket of Monster to put out those slightly singed bridges? I guess it all still waits on Rossi.

The US superbikes seem to be putting in similar times to the CRT bikes at Laguna. Local knowledge of course but even so.

well I for one am really happy to see nicky re sign.

The US race is shown at about 6am monday morning here in Australia. Usually a killer for me to catch but it's the first day of a 6 month travel holiday for me, nice way to start it :)

I'm sure the wife will enjoy and appreciate waking up to the sound of motogp bikes. Payback for 'glee'

I dont think its money vs bike Andy. To me its walking away from Ducati not winning against who knows how long it will take to make a winner from it...

Ben racing with a concussion. Racing on broken ankles, collarbones, and painkillers are unheard of, but concussions? It sounds like bad news to me, although I'm not really familiar as to how common this is in the moto world.

Needs to be pointed out that Hayes, Bostrom and co. are nowhere near the times set by the Aspar ART bikes. Being around second off the satellite bikes at this stage of the season is quite impressive. The CRT outfits were always going to develop at vastly different rates: just look at the teams involved. With all due respect to Paul Bird, his team has taken this long just to get their new glorified-Superstock Kawasaki up to speed in BSB.

In speedway it's 4 days before you can ride again (I think). Doesn't seem a very safe thing to do as far as Spies is concerned.

Steve Rapp has to go inside 107% of the poletime during the warmup to be allowed to race. He needs to find 0.7s from his quali time.

Instead he did neither.
Will they manage to find enough time to make the grid at Indy?
Then again, would Rapp be going any quicker if he was on an ART?
