Pedrosa finished a mere 18 points behind Lorenzo, the latter being on the most consistent machine by far.

I don't see how people can rate Lorenzo higher than Pedrosa when you factor in bike differences.

Facts: Lorenzo 2 time champ Pedrosa 0. How can you say Yamaha was that much better than Honda?

I think on equal machinery, Jorge would have the edge but only just. Not so much on out and out ability, IMO he's more of a thinker, a la Prost in F1.

That is a really really strange way to do it, because you do PR for the sponsor on a 12 month cycle. The more likely explanation is when you switch riders they run unbranded because they have contracts until the end of the year. So Rossi in his completely un-logo'd Yamaha. But Marquez has moved from a Repsol Honda to a Repsol Honda so wtf.

Is there a reason Lorenzo didn't do any laps today?

Talk about a non-tweet. And a total weakling response.

I have been a huge fan of Casey, but like to think I am capable of being fairly balanced. If there's truth to this, then I think it's a rather foolish thing to do.

i'm convinced dany deserves the championship as well this year. he's beaten jorge et stoner on duels, won on all conditions, and apart for the beginning of the season where he was too conservative, probably du to the heavy crashs the years before, he was by no way, slower, except as you said philip island where nobody could beat stoner. Laguna sega isn't a good circuit for pedrosa either, same goes for other top drivers on other circuits

jorge has 2 championships but don't forget one thing : dany had many injuries those years that hampered his carreer, plus the fact that the honda's weren't that good 2 years ago.

The level those three drivers gave to moto gp was incredible. I remember dovisiozo, considered as a good driver, being regularly forgotten by pedrosa (often more than 12 secondes...)

There's no doubt that for years he's had the speed to run away with it but will he ever have an injury/drama free season? I wouldn't bet on it.

David Emmett @motomatters
"Just stood at track side and watched Rossi lap in the wet. He looked so much more comfortable than he did on the Ducati"

I wonder about that guy sometimes. Besides being overly wordy, He says some things that leave me confounded. He recently said that stoner was losing time on the straight at his first race back because his damaged foot prevented him from pushing himself forward onto the fuel tank (cover) on the straights. It's either complete lunacy or another major reason why I'm not a very good road racer.

So Rossi now looks more comfortable running a bike he hasn't touched in 2 years on a wet, slick, cold track, than he did riding a Desmo, even in the dry? hmmmm....

Does your bike have any sort of anti-wheelie electronics?

I thought that you're not supposed to be right against the fuel tank because that makes you twist your body as you hang off.

Nope... It's only an '05 street bike (which got stolen back in June) that I took to the track every so often.. with factory fairings. That's additional incentive to take it easy.

I think what he meant was that by leaving his weight further back he was causing the bike to wheelie more and the electronics were cutting into his acceleration. How you position yourself on the bike can make a huge difference in whether or not it wheelies.

Numbers play in Lorenzo's favour, but Dani has been consistenly a GP winner and a multiple podium guy. But there have been thee negative factors in Dani's side/career in MotoGP. 1- Big injuries, al least one per year (except this one, and he scored +300 points). 2- Honda was not that good for quite a long period of time, at leat until season 2011 3- Casey Stoner did a tremendous season in 2011, which left him as a secondary actor.

I think this year he took a significant step ahead, and he would have been a worthy winner. He deserves at least 1 title and history will be more fair with him and all his efforts and countless injuries in MotoGP.

Ouch, damn. :(

I'm always surprised more riders dont get hurt there, honestly.

Who said people aren't? For one, its hard not to rate the bikes by how you rate the riders.

Two, I think the Honda was a better bike for most of the year. Honda had 12 wins, Yamaha 6 after all.
