I have often heard that money is dished out to teams according to WCC positions made at the end of the year. I'm curious to know if each point is worth $x or if a team's final WCC position determines the prize money. If it is the former, how much is a point worth, and if it is the latter, what is the prize money per position? Do teams not being in the top 10 get any money as well? Thanks.

I'm not sure tbh - I always thought it was a certain amount of revenue put aside for WCC and split amongst the team % wise depending on their WCC position. I am probably 1000% wrong on this though :p

It is based on position not points.

There was an article in Autosport about this a while ago. The teams that have won the WCC before get extra and Ferrari gets even more. Then the top10 teams share the rest based on their positions in the WCC. Apparently Marussia and HRT get nothing, which makes me wonder if Bernie even wants to have 12 healthy teams on the grid.

Interesting read and can see why teams like Mercedes and Red Bull are fighting over a new concorde.
