I am trying to find full results for the Australian TT meeting held at Longford on March 2nd 1964.
There was a Morgan entered for either Allan Caelli or John Edwards by Team Cerberus and it is believed, from a later 'for sale' advert for the car, that the Morgan finished second in class.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct and any details of the race?
Thanks

John Edwards, entered for this occasion only by Tasmanian Morgan distributor Don Gorringe. Yes, second in class but that was a bit academic given the entry. The car was six cylinders, I have been told with Triumph 2 litre engine but I would like more details if anyone can assist. Jake can no doubt advise, but I dont think this was a Morgan production engine at the time. I am sure I have a photo but it is not filed where I thought it was..........

I think that would have been 2nd in class had there been a 2-litre class.

No, what I said was correct. He was 6th overall and second in the 1500-3000cc class, behind the overall winner Frank Matich. There were only six classified finishers in that class (two of whom were disqualified despite finishing in front of Edwards on the road and one who was classified despite having retired to the pits).

Not taken in the TT, but another race at same meeting. Edwards' Morgan following David Hallam's E Type.

The two disqualifications...

Undoubtedly for not starting on the starter motor?

And would that Mallala have been the Thomson car?

Ray, the disqualifications were Bib Stilwell and Frank Coad , yes, both for not starting on starter motor. There were three Elfin Mallalas in the race, which in itself must have been a fairly unusual occurrence, Cusack, Thomson and Brian Higgins in David Price's car.

Thanks very much Rob for answering my question in such detail, and with a photo too.
Brilliant!
