Apologies if this has been mentioned previously, though my Searches didn't turn up anything.

Some time ago, a chap called Tony Clark (who deals in motoring art) set up this Website - lots of interesting stuff, particularly an invaluable listing of British motoring artists (i.e., born or working in the UK). Well worth a browse if you've an hour or three, espeially as it includes cutaway artists as well as 'pictorial' ones (yes, Mr Matthews, sir, I know your works are not only technically accurate but also pictorial - but you, ahem, get the picture).

I think his critiques are very good, especially his comparison of de Grineau vs Crosby - but see what you think. It's very much 'work in progress', so I'm sure he'd be glad to receive any TNF input.

So there are! I admit I only gave it a glance first time - Roystern's got a good write-up, but the great Gavin MacLeod is listed as still living. I wish he were...

Sorry to hear he's passed away. I quite liked his airbrush style.

Does anyone recall the name of the illustrator who contributed work for "Car" magazine in the 1960s and '70s? I think his name was Griffin but couldn't find him in the aforementioned list. He used to illustrate cars from various museums including the (then) Herbert Art Gallery & Museum in Coventry.

Surprised to see that neither Ernest Montaut nor his wife Magy (who painted under the pseudonym Gamy) appear... I think they were both worth a mention.

He does say that his list is of artists living or working in the UK.

I noticed that they listed Mike Maule as Mawle. He is, as far as I know, alive and well and living in Banstead. He gave my wife a painting of Jack Brabham for her 21st birthday in 1966.
