Even though I know it's not going to happen. This is JV's race! Kyle might make it hard, same for Billy Johnson. But this should be JV all the way(just like last year...)
I don't think Jimmy Vasser races these days.....
Ol' Jack Newtown is going to be lucky to get a top 10.

Wow lol, a lot of effort went into that!
It's incredible the power Villeneuve has, people are being dumped left, right and centre in NASCAR, but when it's JV the internets goes apeshit.

Original: http://www.rds.ca/na...ues/346411.htmlThe honcho of Octane Management said it hoped to make this happen by 2015, or "in those waters."
"They need to see it as an opportunity, said Dumontier. I understand there are 36 races in a season, and they do not or will add not let go one necessarily. "But it is the only race outside the United States, there are scores of plays (my edit: the TV ratings are) incredible since 2008 on ESPN, so I aim to have short-term, and I'm going even further than that and I would say we should be the first road course of the Chase. There are none currently in the final, and I think Montreal should be. "
The Commissioner of the Nationwide Series, Joe Balash, but wished to recall that because of the tight schedule of Sprint Cup, this file will be very complex to manage and that the decision does not take into shouting chisel.
"It will be difficult, because there are many trials on schedule and it takes a lot to move a Sprint Cup race, Balash said. We are still receiving many inquiries about it, no matter where we go, and you should know that there are many things to consider before making this decision."

With so many of the tracks owned by NASCAR, good luck getting them to dump one of their revenue generators.
Yeah, afterall it's the promoter being interviewed.. but it would be awesome to have a proper NASCAR weekend with both series like last week at the Glen.

Looking forward to all 3 races this weekend. Edit: 4 if you count Grand Am. Go Brumos!
Will there be PSP/Villain-ouef drama? Probably not, but the media will be ramming it down our throats.
Poutine or Mac 'n jeez?

Wasn't kept after my training ended at that job I got, which sucked, scared the **** out of me, and most sadly meant I couldn't go see Jp last weekend (sorry Jp). But thanks to one of the extremely rare parts of my brain that has actually grown up, I had kept applying to other places all through the past month and I got hired at a new place only a few days afterwards. Plus, I got my final pay at the first job, which I didn't think I was going to get. To celebrate, I obtained some whiskey for the first time in a while last night, one thing led to another, and I ended up calling back a girl I used to hang around with a while back because she's been calling me a couple times a week for the past two months, and I stupidly promised to go and see her this weekend. Then I remembered HOLY **** NASCAR IS IN MONTREAL!
Thus, I'll go give her a seeing to tonight, high-tail it out of there tomorrow around noon, be back here to watch the race with you guys at 2 or 3 or whenever it starts, ????, profit. I'm sure she's used to being ditched for racing from the first go-around with me, and in my defense, whereas most girls have to worry about the guy sneaking out of bed and running right out of the house, all she had to worry about with me was sneaking out of bed at 6am to go to the basement to watch the German Grand Prix. When you seriously say to someone 'Sorry, sweetheart, but racing's been here for me since the 1995 Indianapolis 500 and you just showed up in grade 9', they tend to figure out what kind of person you are in a big ****ing hurry. I'm not saying I'm proud of myself, but it is what it is. Fingers crossed for a good race, see y'all tomorrow.
(P.S. - you know you're a racing fan when you're dialing a girl's number on your phone shitfaced at 3 in the morning, and when you try to recall the last time you saw her, immediately the thought 'I think it was sometime around Suzuka 2010' forms in your brain).

I always enjoyed the guy but his driving has become desperate. Same thing happened with Boris Said, everyone loved him until he tried to win his 2 Cup races a year by crashing into everyone.Say what you want about the man, but Veelnoove is top quality entertainment every time he's in Nationwide.
I would love to see JV run clean and win this weekend.

Discount Tire openly criticized Villeneuve after Road America, and now I notice the sponsor name for the car on the NASCAR page is just Dodge, instead of the usual SKF/Discount Tire.
funny that
lol. JV went to america again cause he was tired of the politics in F1 right?
Hope he doesn't get boored this race.

Meanwhile, back in 'merrca, Coulter was fastest in prac 1 and Paludo fastest in prac 2 @ 186mph. That's three hundred clicks in the old country.

If you can tolerate the french, there's a small video report of the two sessions: http://www.rds.ca/na...ues/346443.html
Stenhouse had a small scare, almost was collected by Danica while facing the wrong way.
(also, the usual sponsors are not on JV's car, there's just Dodge.. not good )

But McDowell was fastest in P1 and Owen Kelley was 4th fastest in KyBu's 54.
Andy Ranger nowhere really, he'll be lucky to finish top 10.
I'd love to see a shootout between JV, KyBu, and Tags. Carpentier will finish 5th or so.
I don't really see Billy Johnson doing much as he's too inexperienced. And it will be a toss-up whether Ron Fellows or Pat Carpentier finish ahead--they'll be about on equal footing.

Another Quebecer with sub-par equipment, L-P Dumoulin is actually doing the weekend with an oval chassis, apparently something happened at Watkins Glen to the other(s) road-course cars the Randy Hill team has..
Carpentier says his car is excellent on old tires, so not sure about qualy but race pace should be great. IIRC he said the exact same thing last year, then it turned sour, because Steven Wallace

Depends. Are you talking about qualifying or the race?so whats the over under on how many people JV punts off the track and blames it on brakes this time?

They're saying there shouldn't be any rain, but if it began to rain in the middle of the session and they 'completely lose the track', the procedure would be to use the times from the first session.

The cars are faster than last year so it's going to be very very difficult to make the distance on 2 stops strategy.
Kyle Busch is coming tomorrow, he's gonna start at the back, do just a couple of laps before stopping and be on the optimal strategy.
He also says it's going to be fun with JV and miss Patrick starting next to each other

Posted 17 August 2012 - 23:21
Is it my impression or has JV bulked up a little (or is it the usual oversized gangsta overalls?)? How much is Danica gaining on acceleration here with her mini flyweight frame? Beware of DP, Jack, she's lean and mean.
And why is Kyle starting at the back?
#44
Posted 17 August 2012 - 23:24
Kelly seems quite friendly with JV, they showed quite a long chat with smiles and thumbs up after the session.
JV was actually quite pissed in his interview, said he let the car down and braked too early for several corners. The pressure is sky high and I don't have a good vibe about this at all lol.. it's hard to imagine the mess if he clashes with PSP again.

And why is Kyle starting at the back?
I believe KBM had Owen Kelly run the car for practice and qualifying, as Kyle was busy in Michigan.
Not entirely sure of the rules, but its probably because Kyle wasnt the qualifier, he will start from the tail-end.
Wish it was Kelly getting the drive.
Edit: SIFO beat me to it ^

He has 'PIKET' on the side of his roof also. Apparently Nelson Sr used the name to hide from his father the fact he was racing as a youngster.
