This "weekend"'s festivities begin on a Wednesday. Well, Tuesday, really, cos, let's face it: the festivities begin when the thread is started. So it's BRISTOL TIME, BABY.

With the removal of the progressive banking, it's presumably back to "moving them out of the way" to pass. Which is fine, I guess. They're just selling tickets, man.

OK, tune in sched: http://www.nascar.com/races/tune_in/

Jayski: http://www.jayski.co...ASCAR-Race-Info

Also, I want you to look at the names on the back of Jeff Gordon's crew uniforms in this clip:

BRISTOL TIME. WOO.

Two questions: 1. What's happening on Wednesday? And why are they trying to deflect attention away from the official thread?

2. How has the Chase still not started?

That may have been three questions; the last one was inserted as per green-white-chequer rules.

As for the removal of progressive banking, anything that strikes a blow against Hussein Obama and his comrades' plans to cheat decent hardworkin' folk out of the American Dream is okay with me.

Aww yeahhh!

Midweek Mayhem in the Truck series. Lovin' me some Bristol.

Piquet coming off his first truck win will be pulling double duty in the Nationwide series. His first NASCAR sanctioned win in the K&N East Series was here at Bristol, his last Nationwide race was a win also.
The lad must be confident!

O_o Guess who's coming to Cup this weekend? One Sparkle Pony. Keep your shoes on. Pants still optional.

And the Holier-Than-Thou Brad K is on triple-duty. Just so everyone can say "Did you know Brad K is on triple-duty?"

Shark!

Why is Trucks on Wednesday night and no Thursday? Because I assume Nationwide is Friday, Cup Saturday?

The secret answer is probaly something like K&N or Legends.

Did You Know:

The owner of John Wes Townley's NCWTS ride is Robby Benton?

As in, the truck will be bent on a weekly basis.

People could think you're a socialist intellectual if you did!

Oh, just realized that the race is a little late for me to watch :(

Will be interesting to see how Ryan Blaney gets on in the other BKR Ram. Makes his debut tomorrow. Penske seem to rate him very highly.
Brian Scott gets his chance in the ex-Leffler KBM seat.
Leffler couldn't secure a ride anywhere!?

I don't think Leffler is that good. He used to have the Great Clips ride in N'wide and wore a fauxhawk. If he's casting about for Truck rides a few years later, that's a downward trajectory for his career that isn't going to reverse itself.

tbh it would be more a money thing than talent thing
but considering kurt ran up front and leffler rarely did...

I'm hoping one of the Gibbs developmental drivers gets the 18 truck next year, whether it's Ryan Truex, Bubba Wallace, or Drew Herring.

Oh dear. Our JWT is running Nationwide too. Bookies are now open.
Weren't you guys just talking about Carl Long? He'll be in the #15 in NNS too.

The #29 team has hit the panic button. Shane Wilson is out as CC and Gil Martin is back.

Did someone say Brad K. is in all 3 races? He seems very phony to me, besides looking like Beavis.

Yeh I'd be hitting more than just buttons if I'm Harvick and seeing my numbers. He just seems so invisible all year.

Stats: (in relation to other drivers in the Top 10)

Wins: 0 (tied lowest)
Poles: 0 (tied lowest)
Top Five finish: 3 (lowest)
Top Ten finish: 9 (lowest)

In fact, 7 out of the top 10 points scorers have as many, or more top 5 finishes than Harvick has top 10 finishes.
Kyle Busch (14th) and Jeff Gordon (16th) have better T5 and T10 finishing stats, including a win each. Both have 3 DNFs to Harvick's 1 though.

Amazing he's sitting in the 8 spot. More amazing is he's been there all year.
I am struggling to remember him doing anything all year tbh. Yep, time for action. Maybe too late..

Kyle should give that 54 ride to Kurt and focus on making the chase in the next few races. Frustration is mounting for him at the moment, in both fronts.

He's probably trying to get as much seat time under the new-retro configuration, which I believe was before he before his NASCAR career started.

The Saturday Cup race is on ABC for most Americans. However in some spots they are showing preseason Football instead. If you turn on the race and there is altogether too much butt patting going on, try this site for further info. http://bit.ly/TSTGX4

This is my first full season of NASCAR since the early 2000s. Pre-chase possibly. And even with the bonus interest excuse of the Race for the Chase© and The Chase© itself, it's a grind.

And 10 years ago I wouldn't have the knowledge to appreciate some of the intricacies.

It's my second full season watching. I still get fired up for every weekend.
I think the fact I take a big interest in NCWTS helps. Or it could just be the officialness of the threads :)

Doing double duty is no big deal when no travel is involved. Considering everything that was done to the track getting some miles in can only help him.

I've noticed that and I suspect the media is enforcing some kind of unannounced censure of him. I mean, he's just disappeared from all coverage and mention in the races, but for a guy of his stature and reputation, something has to be going on.

I mean there were rumors that his wife cheated on him and he's also had a kid. I'm sure at some point he kind of shut out the media but there's something else going on. Any insiders know anything about this? Is he going through any personal crisis?

Technical term is commie.
The closest we've ever got to NASCAR, in Europe, was the Circus Maximus. Then everyone wore dresses and sandals. No trousers party.

I'm going to start looking out for how often Jimmie Johns, Budweiser, Reem, and other sponsors are buying air time. Either commercials, logos in the broadcast, or sponsor mentions. That has a big impact on how often you're shown. Like when Harvick ran the Budweiser prohibition thing at Martinsville, he got a lot of interviews.

I didn't understand that ad campaign btw, it was abolished in December of 1933 so what's the link to 2012?

None of the Childress drivers have really been seen this year, but Harvick is the only guy in the Chase. But he doesn't have a win and unlike Martin Truex(also no win) he didn't have a streak where he ran towards the front and got air time.

That said I'm surprised a Budweiser sponsored driver is so low profile.

Season's not really dragging for me, it hasn't been any more or less interesting than last year but I find myself less bored watching the races. It's gone from something I just have on my TV for three hours and I occasionally look over at it whilst on my computer, to something I actually sit down and watch. So basically, the opposite of what baseball went from being for me when I was about 16.

If she's gone from shithead to babyturd, then it's safe to say she took some load off #NASCAR and made it 5 shades less dim.
Cmon Harvick, I didn't make that up.

Yup, one thing you'll probably notice is airtime will increase in direct proportion to how well you're doing on the track, and there's a downbeat mood at RCR at the mo. Likewise, seeing their former beau Junior, and Khane for that matter, carrying themselves well and fighting for NASCAR's video game cover honors must be somewhat dispiriting, from their perspective. And Brad is winning the beer fight big time.
Of course if you're Patrick or Junior your popularity will remain unscathed all through the year come rain or snow. Pony is a natural. If your name is Matt Kenseth, you're to fans, and subsequently media, a bit what a vampire is to a mirror, no matter what your track record says.

In other news, word is some serious penalties are about to be handed out to Menards team.

Also, ironic that it's a Jimmie Johnson fan talking to the Kenseth fan against the fence, isn't it?

Actually I hear Kenseth is George Carlin in his spare time and Jimmie something of an Evil Knievel off the track.
Both legends in their own right.

NASCAR has issued penalties, suspensions and fines to the #27 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series as a result of rules infractions discovered this week during post-race inspection at the NASCAR Research and Development Center following last Sunday's race at Michigan International Speedway.

The #27 team was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4K (race equipment that has been previously certified or previously approved by NASCAR for use in an event, pursuant to sub-section 8-12, has been altered, modified, repaired or changed in any manner. Intentionally modifying frame rails for the purpose of deceiving NASCAR's inspection gauges) of the 2012 NASCAR Rule Book.

As a result, crew chief Slugger Labbe has been fined $100,000, suspended from NASCAR until Oct. 3 and placed on probation until Dec. 31. Car chief Craig Smokstad has been suspended from NASCAR until Oct. 3 and placed on probation until Dec. 31, while crew member Grant Hutchens has also been suspended from NASCAR until Oct. 3 and placed on probation until Dec. 31. Driver Paul Menard and owner Richard Childress have been penalized with the loss of 25 championship driver and owner points, respectively.
