Ashamed to admit that the stand out item for me was the ORANGE DB3S Aston Martin. Who in their right mind.... etc etc etc ?

I know, "not even a fingerprint, please."Ashamed to admit that the stand out item for me was the ORANGE DB3S Aston Martin. Who in their right mind.... etc etc etc ?
For me, the ex-Siffert 917PA is the one. Saw Jo finish 2nd at Road America in that when 11, hugely under-powered compared to the big 8-liter Can-Ammers but forcefully driven 'til the end... sadly eight weeks before his end.

In mitigation Barry, I believe the first owner was the Dutchman Hans Davids, so the car is presented in the Dutch National Racing colour of Orange.
Having said that, I'm not entirely sure it would have been quite that orange - and in the odd one or two cases of exacting restorations, the choice of finished colour has to be weighed up against the damage it may do to the retinas of passers by....Not sure I could bring myself to paint it that colour!
As an aside, my grandfather owned DB3S/111 (Reg. No. SLX 899) in the early 60s, and swapped it for a Mk1 Jaguar saloon plus £900 cash....

A nicely comprehensive range of photographs, Cliff. Thanks for posting. Is the monoposto Bugatti in the Laguna Seca Friday shots the ex-Guérin 37C/35 of Michael Gans?
