It looks like the real racers are getting some lap times set now.

@InsideFerrari
A touch of good sense of humour from Meteo France: It could rain again after this rainy period... :drunk:

Camera director doing a fine job. McLaren's Jenson Button is finally out on track, but the director would much prefer to focus on Sam Michaels on the pit wall and the Lewis and the pit crew in the garage.

It's an absolute lake out there. Lotus must be bummed about not being able to put their DDRS through its paces.

Massa's engine has turned into toast in the penultimate corner.

Oh well, better to have a problem in FP than in the race. I hope it's an old engine.

The engines used on Friday DO NOT come out of the quota.

Mea Culpa, I think faster than I type.....

Well it somehow fits the situation where I live - two days ago we had almost 30°C and sunshine, now that I turned on the TV for Spa it's down to a rainy 10°C which look like it could turn into snow anytime...

Often in the wrong sessions though. Like Silverstone where it was wet every session apart from the race which is when we wanted it.

... and are most certainly old ones, not intended anyway to be used on saturdays and sundays anymore. As the season goes on, naturally teams have a growing contingent of engines which have run their projected lifetime but didn't explode yet, the only use for them is friday when it doesn't matter much if they break. There's high probability Massa was running such a unit.

Can I look up a table somewhere which are supposed to be the right and the wrong session to be wet? ;)

It's not hard.

Wet in FP. Drivers don't come out to play = Wrong
Wet in Q and race. They have to drive and it can add to the excitement. = Rightish.

But that doesn't always work, cause they will stop the qualifying/race if it rains too much.

Conclusion: It IS hard.

Which is why I said rightish. When I'm track side I know what sessions I would prefer the rain to fall if it has to.

Obviously would have been great in Monaco this year to get proper rain in the race. Maybe Hungary?

It's been said it is supposed to improve and what we see now is the worst of the weather. But hey, it's SPA.

Aargh! I finally get 30 mins to check out the FP action and there's no action. Looks like it'll stop shortly after the session ends http://meteox.co.uk/...7...x=288&y=281

36 min: Latest radar image shows that the light rain to the north of Spa is intensifying as it moves towards the Ardennes. It is likely to stay like this through to the end of the session now.

I'm a student actually, and I don't go back till the 5th ;) I'm doing some note taking whilst listening to the BBC coverage though, it's the best compromise I can find

The amount of rain falling at the moment would mean running behind the SC so there isn't much too learn.

I was at the track for FP1, decided to go back to the hotel shortly afterwards, the sky is just thick with dark clouds, didn't see much point in waiting for FP2, feel vindicated now. Hopefully it's dry tomorrow because my seats at the foot of Eau Rouge are class!
