I had to chuckle when I saw this quote from Fernando about Ferrari updates not working. Seems like he's responding to some of the comments posted here.

"A lot has been said about us because everyone is always focused on the red team. Here, for example, if we try a wing once, then don't use it, it becomes news. But these things happen regularly in all teams. Now, all we need to do is get back on the right track and I'm sure we can do it."

He probably trolled us, then, when he went on record with quotes like "we haven't had any updates for 6 races".

It's funny how at the start of the season when the F2012 was bad, people called for Domenicali & Fry's heads but after the car was improved they didn't say isht and no calls for anyone's head. Now, Fernando was super unfortunate last race & at Spa yet is STILL leading the WDC yet peoe are again calling for Domenicali & Fry's head. It's absurd.

There will be a few decent updates this weekend that will work with much larger changes in India which should also work. Ferrari will fight til the end & will be ok. The team doesn't need to focus on DDRS like RB or Merc. Look at MaCa, no DDRS but usually front row in Quali. Point is there are other areas more important.

Fernando = 2012 WDC Champion

Hey Crucial! I agree with pretty much everything you say, except the part about predicting Alonso as champ. That's certainly my hope, and he and Ferrari will be working day and night to make it happen...but there's plenty of good drivers out there (and some bad ones!), who may have something to say about who ultimately becomes WDC! ;)

This thread suffers from the Ferrari Human Resources arm-chair complex. That is whenever Ferrari does not win a race or leads a championship by more than 20 points we have several people come here and start firing, re-structuring and reorganizing upper management at Ferrari. Quite ridiculous to say the least.

It is impossible to win every single race and every single championship every single year. No driver or team has done that. Enjoy the show or do your liver a favor and find yourself another hobby.

I understand why some people could criticise Domenicali, after all he has been the boss for the past 5 years without a major success. But Fry? His main responsibility is the organization and the Racing Team and since he came the improvement in both areas has been remarkable (strategies, pit stops, constant upgrades...).

If I were standing right in front of you right now I'd give you a hug.

Be more receptive to other people's opinions. Just because the other person does not agree with you it doesn't mean he/she has some sort of mental disorder, it means your ego may be a little too big for your bad self.

I guess we will find out who will be consider the fool when the season plays out? The pessimist or the optimist; there are plenty of each in this thread.

I did.

Don't take things out of context.

If you want to turn this into a personal duel I suggest you PM me any time you want. I have to warn you though: I'm going to get you lit up like a Christmas tree.

Now, can we ALL (optimists and pessimists) talk about Ferrari please?

It is you who sees mental disorders in other people who do not share your opinion: "There are pills for that".
And I don't know how you think the Russel quote is about mental disorders in the first place. There is nothing in it one could take that way. It is only about the fact that people who know little think that it's a lot, and the other way around. And you know very, very little about the inner workings at Ferrari (as we all do), yet every post of you is full of condescension towards the team coming from a very big mouth.

I guess we will find out who will be consider the fool when the season plays out? The pessimist or the optimist; there are plenty of each in this thread.

The quote is not about pessimists and optimists AT ALL. Pessimists [edit: in moderation ;) ] I have no problem with, people who are 100% sure they know how to restructure management of an F1 team from their living room, I do. (well at least if they tell me about it every day)

5 races on the limit like always, but I'm confident that we will do it, and like I said, when the Wheels start to turn and the luck changes, I believe we will get a nice lead again in the championship.

Why does he talk about luck?

Because in 3 of the last 4 races he has had something happen to him and 2 of those led to retirements.

I admire Alonso´s qualities as a driver, but you can´t say that he´s often disadvantaged on the "luck-front". So imho he shouldn´t overuse this topic too much.;)

Not really new mirrors but they are back in a more traditional position as there is talk of some development around the sidepods. (new flow conditioners(?)

This has been discussed to death. "Luck" is not a scientific concept, and so everyone will choose the time frame that is convenient for his argument (was he lucky to waste 08 and 09 in a Renault?, etc.). It makes no sense to even talk about this, really

Unfortunately for some, not a new team principal, technical director, manager or windtunnel, but just a few small aero bits.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Ferrari have been through this process before and they will prevail... In Alonso they have one of the best and his character is not of giving up slowly. I can only imagine the words being spewed at the factory.

That said, it is high time they dump that wind tunnel of theirs. Once is a mistake, maybe a second time, but a third is inexcusable.

Setting a good time early on is a good sign even though it's only practice 1. The car looks tough to drive but genuinely quick, Hamilton had to come and spoil the party in the end, luckily it wasn't Vettel.

Hate to say, but I think they were simply running on a little less fuel than others. Alonso was making some obvious mistakes yet still setting respectable times.

The way I see it, one does not cancel the other. A car can be quick yet twitchy and difficult to drive; take a look at Alonso and Massa's onboard and compare with Vettel's or Hamilton's.

I think that points more towards McLaren and RBR having better cars at this stage. If the car looks hard to drive then it shows Alonso is pushing it to do what it doesn't naturally want to do. Perhaps it only looks quick because others aren't pushing or as Sean said, with less fuel. I just can't see how a car that is quick but also difficult to drive at the same time. I'd love to be wrong though!

Gene said the feeling was good because they were not doing anything different from any other friday... The problems with the car were due to the track being really dirty. They were struggling for grip.

Of course grip is not that important on S1, they will improve a lot as the track gets cleaner, as everybody else will do, but the car looks really quick.

I wonder for how many retirements Lotus could be held accountable for? If all of their crashes and alternator issues are combined...
