Autosport Magazine (4 October 2012):

"Lotus is set to confirm that it has re-signed 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen imminently. The team held an option on the Finn, subject to certain performance clauses being met on both sides, and is understood to have taken up its option since the Singapore Grand Prix."

Only sensible and right choice since McLaren option didn't happen.

Raikkonen Pins Hopes on Korea Upgrade
4 October 2012

Posted Image

Kimi Raikkonen is not expecting a dramatic upturn in Lotus' form before a major update package arrives at the Korean Grand Prix.

Although the Finn is still gunning for the world championship, Raikkonen is cautious about what he can achieve in Japan this weekend judging by the recent form of his team.

"We have not been even close in the last races, so hopefully we can stronger but I'm not really hoping that we are suddenly going to be fastest," explained Raikkonen.

"We saw what happened in the last races, but maybe I am wrong. I hope so..."

As Autosport revealed last week, Lotus is planning to introduce a raft of aerodynamic developments to its E20 for next week's event in Korea.

Drivers never say if they have signed or not, same applies to Kimi....back in late 2006 he claimed no deal was done, yet he had made deal with Ferrari already early 2005. They are not allowed to say if the deal is done or not, maybe it's maybe it isn't...I'm expecting announcement soon like Robertson said.

I know that. It's just interesting to see how conflicting the reports are. Autosport says announcement is imminent while the word among the Finnish F1 journos is that Kimi and Lotus are still honing contract details and nothing's signed yet. Well, they could of course both be right, or wrong.

Okay thanks, I wonder why Kimi is trying so hard to be mysterious about the matter, it is not like there is any viable seats left in any case.

I think he is just being difficult on journos who drummed him 3 years out of Ferrarri.

Perhaps Lotus's idea of "imminent" is "when we get round to it"

Maybe we'll get some news after the race ? I think its a pretty safe bet he's staying where he is.

Less than 4 hours to FP1, hope they get done everything they want to.

Yes nothing really more to add to that. :well:

And now they are really, really slow.

so slow that Grosjean matched the fp1 winner time on his first lap.

Time for Choc Ice to give resident Alonso fans on this thread something to bleat about, never mind that the car is considered dangerous.

I knew it was a bad idea for Kimi to test the DDRS, now he has lost all of his setup time for FP1 & FP2.

Lotus seems to have little trouble using their supposed number one or at least points leader as a guinea pig for doomed experiments and making a hash of pretty much the entire race weekend in the process. Nice going. Well when he falls flat on his face yet again, the blame will lie with the team again.

If they cannot get it fixed by the end of practice, they've basically compromised his entire weekend again. Looking at Grosjean's time, the car looks pretty fast.

Didn't look like they were taking the engine out ? Plenty of fluids from around the battery pack though.

Noticed the same thing. Anyone have any idea what fluid was and why it was there?

Yeah, cooling fault so the battery was overheating.

That is what the commentators said, but looking at it I think you are right it wasn't the whole engine. But it still didn't look good.

No it doesn't look good, hopefully something cam be salvaged towards the end of the session, Ant Davidson thinks not, we'll see, hardly a promising start to the weekend.

He already is out of the race weekend with setup time restricted to Saturday morning at most, and they sure will find a novel way to f*** that as well.

I don't think he is out..he has basic setups done and if the car felt good in first practise then there is not so muc worries. I still think there is chance for good result.
