The President of GPDA (Pedro De la Rosa), asks every year if Kimi wants to join but he never does and never will. :)

:rotfl:

When I read that Kimi hadn't even seen pics of the circuit let alone driven it in the simulator I thought, "bet he takes the escape road between 4 and 6", well... nearly.

Well Kimi will properly not run wide again at that point again. :)

 That was funny, Track looks really dusty, Vettel went off as well, I'm hoping that Kimi doesn't spend half the session in the garage, he'll know the track well enough by the end of FP1 if he can get out on it.

dunno if they are slow cos they are learning the track or the car is just bad or they are also on high fuel - too many unknowns... Alonso has it by a country mile!

Alonso is driving with much less fuel and we shouldnt compare against him...it's grosjean we shuld compare to and Kimi is losing important practise time, seems very difficult at the moment to get updates running smoothly....will see if they willbe kept at all sadly.

It wont be so bad if they're learning something i suppose, its just getting boring watching FP sessions where he spends more time in the garage than he does on the track, whilst the car that racking up the laps is not primarily the car they're "testing".

Kimi´s S3 seems to be the problem!

Wonder whether they will use the new exhaust at FP2! I expect them to take it off!

to explain half a second difference? I dunno...

I understand why they test with Kimi becos he has shown he is very sensitive to a car - he even felt something during winter testing when Grosjean didn't. I understand all of that... I'm just frustrated the big upgrades dun seem to be working

Kimi had traffic in every single lap, especially on S3.

I dont know why everyone always waits until the end of the session to go out.

It is way to early to know if the updates is working or not. We dont have a clue what program they are running.

They'll use it in FP2 for 4 laps then take it off and start the weekend afresh from FP3 on saturday. Again. For the 5th(?) weekend. This time with the added benefit of Kimi never having driven the track, not even in a simulator.
To accurately predict the course of this weekend's practice sessions just imagine the worst amateur team nightmare scenario possible. That's Lotus when they have updates. I can't help but laugh at it at this point, it's just so predictable weekend after another.

Yeah they really need to let Kimi get more running. It is frustrating to see him in the garage so much, especially when he has never driven the track before. Lets hope Kimi can atleast get some long runs in FP2 this time.

They cant remove the exhausts during the FP sessions. So these updates better work, or otherwise Kimi will only have FP3 for setup time.

I don't think so. Ferrari practise speed has rarely correlated on quali or race.

Romain is faster at the moment than Kimi. Not sure about the fuel loads, but I think they're doing a lot of setup work and much less track time on a circuit which the drivers would need to learn.

Well guess he got a few laps in this time but what's their worth toward setup given such important suspension component was malfunctioning.

In the end Grosjean switched to soft tyres again, so this might explain the difference between them.

I'm wondering whether the roll bat was broken or just changed for one with a different rate ?

Well since, as far as I know, the "anti rollbar" isn't really an "anti rollbar" but a damper assembly I gather it is adjustable.

Yep thats how i understand it, so possibly "just" part of set-up work as opposed to a failure, as to the exhaust, we'll know better by Monday :)

At least he got enough laps in to get to know the track, we didn't see much of him but then when we're seeing lots of others lock up/go off maybe thats not a bad thing.

So they keep it on the car, they have the data and I hope that will indeed eventually pay off.

New rear looks amazing!

Lotus to Stick with Coanda-Effect Exhausts for Korean Grand Prix
12 October 2012

Posted Image

Lotus is set to keep its new Coanda-effect exhaust system on the car for the rest of the Korean Grand Prix.

"We're reasonably happy with the way they are working," Lotus technical director James Allison said.

"We are at the beginning of a relatively long road with them. It's not straightforward to make them work from the start, but numbers we got are good so we are quite pleased."

mmmm, sounds like the heating issues in Suzuka which then caused the Kers to burn...
