Raikkonen chasing Brazilian win

"I like racing, so it's good to be on track as much as possible; no-one likes ending a race early," he said.

"Our record shows that the team can build a reliable car and that I know how to drive it.

"The last round of the season means that it's the last chance to enjoy that feeling for some time. That's what a driver loves; to put a helmet on and go racing.

"Every time I get in the car I want to fight for victory and this is no different; I want to celebrate a good result with the team in Brazil.

"That would give the best feeling for the winter and also for next season."

"There is no doubt about it; the greatest day of my career came at Interlagos when I won the World Championship in 2007 and that means I have very fond memories of this place.

"All in all it has been good to me. I have finished here every year since 2003 and been on the podium five times. Actually, in 2003 they gave the winners' trophy to me but afterwards it turned out I only got P2.

"I have lived some of the best moments of my life at this circuit, and that's something nobody can take away. That's why it is one of my favourite places to go back to."

Kovalainen’s F1-career in a period of darkness

Translated by Nicole
F1 | Turun Sanomat 22.11.2012 22:24
Heikki Kovalainen will drive his F1-career’s 109th GP on Sunday. It looks like it might be his last race. At least the contract with Caterham isn’t even a bit closer than it has been earlier...Continue reading here

y post here??? anyway, i'd not be surprised if LotusF1 gives him a 3rd driver offer, given his history with the team. that'd be a just place for him if he doesn't have a drive next year.

sorry, I thought some here would also be interested to know what's going on with Heikki, a fellow Finn

Anyway, a new translation is here

Leave Me Alone

Translated by Nicole

Kolumnit | Turun Sanomat 22.11.2012 22:00

At this point I have to survey in which atmosphere Kimi Räikkönen is about to end his 10th F1-season. He has for the first time in his career finished all the races and scored twice as many points as expected. But what do you know, Kimi didn’t show up on Interlagos-track at all... continue here

3rd drivers for the most part are non drivers with opportunities so limited these days, well maybe he would be driving the new simulator as regular day job. Bottas seems the exception but to get him to sign he was contractually guaranteed plenty time in the car on Fridays.

I'm sure there are places for discussing the fates of other drivers of Finnish origin but this thread surely isn't it, or at least it shouldn't be.

Kimi would rock that party if the weather was like now for the whole weekend.

i think friday and part of saturday is around 30+ deg, but sunday is predicted to be as low as 19 deg, and we all know how much E20 hates cold ... bad omen all round :(

On the simulator thing,Karun Chandhok just mentioned that he had severe motion sickness when he first sat in the RedBull simulator..had to step out for the first few times..He says it happens to nearly everyone and u have to muster up the resolve to get through the first few times after which it gets easier

Isn't that quite a biggie, manifolds probably take some time to change.

probably this is an engine that has done it's fair share of milage, it'd be better if they pull into pits and change it, concentrate with RG car and let kimi go flat out in FP2

Really interesting story narrated by Karun Chandok just now..his words more or less

''i talked to some of the Mclaren guys that had worked with Kimi and they all said that he hated free practice sessions..most occasions,it was just a waste where KR would keep driving around bored and not do any major setup work.

Montoya was the opposite, working throughout free fractice sessions and then would rave about being 0.5 sec or so faster than KR just before the last practice session..

Then Raikkonen would turn up in the final practice and one the first lap ,be 0.5 sec faster than Montoya!!..the latter would then be stunned and a little while later go ballistic over this inside the Mclaren garage. His whole weekend usually headed downwards after that.''

:rotfl:

but back in those days, the team tasted so much that Free practice sessions were pretty useless. these days however, it's a whole new ball game. specially if something like today's engine malarky happens, it pretty much ruins chance to test set-ups and High fuel run.

Thats a great little story, kinda ties in with what Coulthard said about waking him up, strapping him in and he'd go straight out and set a blistering lap time.

Oh man, it should be clear by now that Räikkönens friday pace is next to meaningless, maybe with the exception of longruns. Other than that, I'm somehow glad he doesn't top the time sheets atm 'cause the rain will flush the pace down the toilet on Sunday anyway.

Raikkonen says he has "absolutely no grip" at the front or rear of his Lotus, with the team confirming that his tyres are very warm.

is it the first time we're hearing Lotus E20 overheating it's tire???

His long run laps are also usually slower than the ones of Grosjean! But yeah it will prolly rain tomorrow and on sunday

Might not be a problem anymore. Others had coanda already when it was wet last time.

Now Kimi is complaining about overheating tires

Very odd but if it is rainy rest of the weekend, it is only good thing for car to get heat to the tyres.

Kimi said there is much more work to do than usually after friday, no grip or balance in the car but they are usually not higher on the timesheets after friday practises anyway.

He only needs a 5th place to seal it. If he finishes P6 or lower in a lackluster performance, he doesn't deserve WDC 3rd anyway..
