I'm pretty sure the environment in Mclaren isn't the best at this moment. This setup mistake right now isn´t a coincidence.

Yep.

It's all down hill from now guys :|

Hamilton shows alarming interest in McLaren Formula 1 car data

:rotfl:

Tweeting the telemetry data did seem a bit suspicious to me as there really was no need to go overboard in trying to explain a difference in speed to the lay person, most of which wouldn't understand how to interpret the numbers.

Why of why did they have to start chasing setup. If he was a couple of tenths faster than Button then there's no reason why he couldn't have taken second today. ah man.

I'm very pessimistic about Hamilton's chances in this race. He's starting on tyres which are five laps in it cycle. It can be a difficult place to overtake with DRS and Kers available. I hope I am proven wrong but it might be a tough afternoon. :( I hope the race set-up on that Mclaren is good.

Lewis is over a hundred GP starts now. Getting the wrong wing and setup is exactly what he shouldnt let slip by at this stage of things. He wont get a free ticket tomorrow and have both Alonso and Vettel DNF...

LOL what about Jenson earlier in the year then (over 200gp) and this is the real world you can't be perfect all the time , you have no idea how sensitive car setups are these days. Some times more than most lewis usually gets the setup right . Today obviously not ,these things happen move on dust yourself off and look towards the race.

This is borderline inexcusable by Hamilton and his engineers! It would've been bad enough had this happened at the first GP, but now!

I can only hope the track somehow comes to Lewis' set-up, and that he flies tomorrow.

I posted something like this in another thread too: Lewis is only 23 points behind Vettel with 6 races to go. That might increase tomorrow, but surely Lewis could hope to limit the damage to another 10 or 12 points. So, let's say around 35 points behind with 5 races to go - a win and a fifth place. That kind of gap has been recovered before.

I know Alonso is further ahead right now, but IMO he can't stay ahead of Vettel much longer unless they find more performance.

Lewis Hamilton fears he will not be able to make much progress in the Japanese Grand Prix after a "huge" set-up mistake left him only ninth in qualifying

Maybe he should consult with his favourite ex team mate, whether it's the same set-up mistake as in Brazil in 2007 (the type of set-up mistake that causes you to have a slower FL than Nakajima)?

Great interview. One thong i find kinda wierd is how lewis kept on mentioning he wanted a new challenge, i would have thought his main challenge was to win more championships.

If McLaren are trying to screw Lewis on purpose just like they did to Alonso then f*ck me that is funny  Alonso being 0.6 sec off Hamilton in Chinese qualifying and a full second slower per lap off the Ferrari's in Brazil that year - at a relatively simple track where half of it is flat-out... and a lap takes less than 75 seconds. Now all of a sudden Lewis goes from P1 in Singapore to... P9???? If McLaren really has done something like that... then my goodness how unprofessional. But it wouldn't surprise me if the rest of their season was spent trying to make Jenson look great, especially since RBR will run away with the WCC tomorrow anyways...

I really understand why Kimi kept silent about signing for Ferrari now...

Just by coincidence, on the same week he signs for Mercedes Hamilton has suddenly become very interested in the technical side of the MP4-27, much to the amusement of the McLaren team.

"The last stretch of Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren career has not started well, according to The Independent newspaper.

The report cites McLaren insiders in claiming the Briton has taken a “newfound interest” in the technical details of his 2012 McLaren now that he has decided to jump ship to Mercedes next year.
“He’s been very interested in the exhaust system and the telemetry,” a team insider is quoted as saying.

And Hamilton told reporters on Thursday that he knows all about McLaren’s plans for the 2013 single seater that he will never drive.

The whole helping to "build a team" is just nonsense. He cant actually believe in it?

Maybe when there was 24/7 testing and tailor made tyres to a top team it was 50% true..

No ... I bought it for a while ... but the reality is that the move to Merc is (surpringly given how well he started in F1) a necessity rather than a real choice for him.

IMHO of course

Wtf is wrong with people like you just because you see it as black & white doesn't mean others do ,People just love to nit pick on lewis and i know why . He wants a challenge , he wants a new approach wtf is wrong with that, it will develop him as driver and as a person. What is wrong for someone trying to make a change , its like the guy can always do wrong, it sickenings me.

I'm quite certain McLaren not need to worry as long as there's no actual papers, pictures or digital data involved.

Well if he doesn't get onto the podium tomorrow he has zero chance of the WDC imo, and if that happens it is looking more and more like Vettel' third championship on the trot. That is something I really don't want to happen. I can't really understand how he got set up so wrong.

I think it's an excuse so he doesn't have to say the truth, and the real reason for leaving: that McLaren will never win another championship as long as they are run the way they are.

He may, but it makes no difference. I guess that he was impressed by some aspects of the future plans of the Mercedes F1 team, whether in terms of facilities, technical staff, engine plans or whatever. He must have some sense that the team will be better in the future, or else he is wasting his time.

You might actually want to watch the drivers press conference from Thursday to put things in context. If it suits you, that is.

I mean it's unheard of for drivers to take plans to other teams, right? I was under the impression that when a driver left a team they had their memory erased MIB III style to prevent such things happening. :well:

Seriously.

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that Hamilton would rather retire than ever drive for McLaren again. It's a mystery how such a great team can piss off so many drivers... even Räikkönen basically had to be carried out of Ferrari mind :smoking:

McLaren seem to like their employees devoid of character, everyone must conform. They're F1's equivalent of The Borg. And I have a feeling that Hamilton, Alonso, Raikkonen etc, didn't fancy being assimilated.

It's only a challenge if you feel it is possible. HRT winning the WDC aint possible in the next three years!
