If there is no-one showing it live on telly in the UK best bet would be to try and find a stream...

TV is booked for next Sunday, beer will be bought and pizzas ordered for lunch
If there is no-one showing it live on telly in the UK best bet would be to try and find a stream...
A stream doesn't allow me to cut away from the race and go back and watch the rest of it after the F1 though....that's what I always did.

Last year the F1 race finished literally as the last car on the grid lined up for the GP - so it was straight from the V8's to the F1 without any overlap. Start time in Suzuka should be the same this year so shouldn't be an issue, barring any massive delays (lots of SC's, red flag etc) in the V8 race...

Aww yeah.
Talladega, Suzuka and Bathurst. Great weekend coming up!
I'm in Geneva. Any idea on which TV stations will show each of those races?

Overdose!
I'm confused. I love Lowndsey so much but I hate Warren Luff.

Also wish they had the new Falcons here in the States. Did they ever come out with a new GTHO in Australia?
#12
Posted 02 October 2012 - 00:16
edit: race must finish by 5.15 or 161 laps, whichever comes first - from a 10.30 start, can't see them doing the lot by 4!

it's still going to set up a potential quandry - watch the start of one or the finish of the other? i suspect i'll be banished to the bedroom as it's all on FTA, so won't be able to use foxtel iQ to get best of both worlds.
oh, and good luck with those early wake-ups: the sky is light by 5.30am in sydney now. i'm actually looking forward to the changeover for once, and i start work early too!

Nope.Did they ever come out with a new GTHO in Australia?
There just isn't the money to do the engineering work on getting the rest of the car up to scratch to cope with drive train out of a hot Shelby Mustang or similar I think. I think to cover the R&D costs it would need to be expensive as a E63 or M5, nice and all but hard to sell with a Ford badge on it...

Last year with this boring 2 car formula, finally next year we get 2 more manufactuers
Myth. There are no manufacturers, especially as of next year. It's the same bloody car.

So they're going with a spec-template chassis, like NASCAR?Myth. There are no manufacturers, especially as of next year. It's the same bloody car.
Lame.

They basically have for the past 10 years. bugger all difference.

No way are they the same car, they have a spec chassis but they are all powered by different engines or have I got that wrong.Myth. There are no manufacturers, especially as of next year. It's the same bloody car.
Nissan have a new engine, http://www.v8superca...64/default.aspx
In New Zealand the cars really are the same, the Fords are powered by GM, hows that for a rubbish series

the mercs are going to be adaptations of DTM models with benz front ends. there'll be some serious sandbagging involved!
Won't share anything, chassis wise, with the DTM car.
The M-B V8Supercar will be an E-class Mercedes Benz body cut to fit the standard chassis, using a 5l quad cam V8 (maybe the engine will be related). The aero will be pure V8Supercar.

One thing is for sure, if Holden can't beat it they will regulate it until they can or just ban it outright.
TBH Holden doesn't hold anywhere near as much sway as they used to, Ford will be gone in the near future IMO - it is obvious that V8Supercars are now looking further afield and spruiking themselves as a potential 'world' category/championship. So they won't ban it, they don't want to scare potential manufacturers away by banning one of the 2 new 'manufacturers' - even though the Mercs are just a privateer entry, they will be hoping that it turns into a full manufacturer entry in future. Same for Nissan - they won't ban them either What they will do is regulate engine parity so that all engines are relatively equal in performance, as the chassis effectively are spec now anyway...

It really has been with Ford and Holden but hopefully we will see some change next year. It has become so boring that it really needs these newbesThe engines are all about equal anyway, you're dead set kidding yourself, it's a spec series and has been for years and years.

It seems that they aren't running that livery
i think one car (moffat / davison) is running the retro strip while the other car is standard. guessing vodafone are doing that too?

Looking at the photos from yesterday, none of the other DJR cars (12, 18 & 49) have the Tru-Blue scheme.
Car 18, which is normally in the Norton colours has the regular Jim Beam colours.
Edit: I've done some more reading and the Tru-Blue colours will only appear on Sunday. Something to do with only one set of panels.
That is good news.
Tru-Blu does look good!

Dont they do something stupid like hobbling one if it has a natural (in its design) advantage over the other?
Project Blueprint required all the car shapes to have negligible differences in terms of aerodynamics. I can only assume these new things next year will be up to the same scrutiny.

Yes.
So far testing of the CotF has been the chassis, tyres and drivetrain. They will soon be starting aero testing.
Holdsworth tested the Ford CotF at Bathurst in the co-drivers' session yesterday, not being officially timed but apparently doing runs in the 2m10s range.

Those guys in FF are either very brave,, or dumb as that circuit is pretty dangerous for an open wheeler though from the footage it seems that 11/10ths is the norm!!

Looking at Natsoft Dunlop series runner Chas Mostert qualified at a 2.07 .83. Only 3/10 slower than Whincups 'main game' lap. Not a bad effort in what is supposedly a slower spec car.
Older spec, not necessarily slower. The speeds in the "main game" haven't improved that much over the past few years.
