Rene Binder and Kevin Giovesi will test for Lazarus

Why? I would have thought a wallet weighing session followed by a quiz on Venezuelan culture would be more use for Lazarus :drunk:

Here's a thought. Since drivers move around a lot in post-season testing, why don't we look at the drivers list once we have laptimes. And keep an updated list of *signed drivers for the season*.

I don't see what's wrong with people posting an updated list on who will test for whom Ross?
Of course your idea to create a signed list is a good idea.

Trident confirmed Leal, Richelmi and Ericsson for testing.

Personally, I don't see the point of "testing" your old drivers, if not for comparison. But if you want to compare a new driver to the old ones, the you only need one...
So maybe Trident with Leal and Richelmi again in 2013?

Coloni must have cheated with their car (for example by driving under weight) as I don't believe that a slow driver like Daniel De Jong would set a 2nd time in normal circumstances.

just reading tweets from GP2 official....it is like a live ticker ;) and it seems that Binder just caused the third (!) red flag today by losing control of the car...

No, he said he is going to test on 22nd November at Jerez

edit: interestingly, somebody tweeted, that he wishes, James Calado and Daniel Abt would become team mates at Lotus next season...and Calado replied: "wish hard enough and it just might happen ;) "

Abt and Calado would be a superb line-up for Lotus, it would make them title candidates.

Autosport champion +good testing + Quaife-Hobbs logos on every car he's driving....sounds like there is a chance.

Johnny Cecotto has the jr deleted from his name in GP2 reports too. But frankly, it's not difficult to work out which one it is.

If they want to sell the team they need to advertise it's something worth buying.

Funny thing I was watching his F3 Open race after the GP2 test and he just ran away with it Senna-style. Double pole, romped away at the start, double win. And he's only ever won the one F3 race previously. Obviously after the test result he's now decided he's talented after all :D

I thought they want to clean up the mess of feeder series. Now they want to introduce another unnecessary series? (Despite one have to admit, that an american series would be the only exception, where a new feeder series for Formula 1 could make sense)

It wouldn't make any more sense in America, they already have single seater championships.

Oh yeah, why not? A few F1 teams have gp2 teams. America is a big market and F1 longs to do well here. If indylights were renamed gp2 america and the FIA backed it why wouldn't it be relevent?

Because it doesn't work like that. Just like GP2 has no value outside of being on an F1 weekend. The only value a GP2 America would have is if it was the exact same car it'd make it easier to transition to the 'proper' one.

One F1 team has a GP2 team, and that was more by luck than design. And when GP2 has a standalone weekend, no one in the F1 paddock comes down to watch: with potentially 4 'American' F1 races there would have to be a lot of standalone races to make a series work, none of which would garner much interest in the F1 paddock. Mainly because they a. they're not there and b. they would still see it as subordinate to the GP2 European series, which still struggles for attention despite appearing in front of F1 on a regular basis.

Without looking up I can only find Cecotto for Arden and Calado for Lotus in my head. Beside that I think some driver line ups will stay the same.

I think that's all we know at present. I expect there'll be announcements after Macau, given that many of the potential grid for next season are there at the moment.
