I just finished reading "Lotus 72 Owners Workshop Manual" by Ian Wagstaff. He used Tony's Lotus 72 cutaway drawing three times in the book. Once on the cover. Once on the inside cover and once on a 2 page spread inside the book.

Congratulations Tony,

Stan

No end to the use of good art...

From memory the BRM book used the V16 engine cutaway only twice... inside the book and wrapped around the front and back covers.

I do hope you were handsomely paid, Tony? I have just got the book too, for obvious reasons. Some interesting photos, too.

I agree with Gary. Stan started two identical threads called 'Lotus 72' yesterday. As David says, the duplication then may have been due to a technical glitch. This third thread is a new one, started at 15.07 today (GMT). Stan has also posted the same thing in the Cutaways thread. Please, Stan, no more - we've got the message.

I guess you mean, "'andsome more if the book's a success'"?

No, a single reproduction fee. Nice to have, but it doesn't make illustrating a viable job.

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this book, considering it for the shelf. Just seen there is to be a volume on the Mclaren M23 too next year.

According to the latest Haynes catalogue the M23 book is due in June 2013.

The 72 volume is a good potted history, but quite light on content. It's difficult to summarise six seasons in to a slim volume. There's some great during-restoration/rebuild photos for you modellers out there building a Tamiya 1/12th or Ebbro 1/20th.

I found the RB6 book more interesting, it seemed a little more in-depth, but fo course the Red Bull is a more complex (not necessarily better, and definately uglier!) car.
