I'll be happy as long as my favourite driver, Driver #22 TBA, returns next year.

Eric Liechtenstein, Josh Webster and Jack Harvey will test for Carlin.

Emanuele Zonzini and Roman De Beer will test for Trident.

Kevin Ceccon, David Fumanelli and Melville McKee will test for MW Arden.

Alex Fontana will test for Jenzer.

There's also a lot of drivers competing to win a GP3 test, which is the prize in the Henry Surtees Challenge.

Vicky Piria and John Wartique are unlikely to make it to the GP3 grid this season, as she lacks the budget.

Why Nick Cassidy HistoryFan? He didn't exactly set Eurocup on fire and the NZ link is so tenuous that I wouldn't consider it plausible.

Vicky Piria and John Wartique are unlikely to make it to the GP3 grid this season, as she lacks the budget.

They both lack talent as well so oh well.

Aren't the post-season tests this year still using the old car? I guess drivers who are a bit light on budget may wait until the tests next year with the new one.

Shaping up nicely. Suspect Jafaar will try GP2/FR3.5 if he has the budget though. He's had three (?) Seasons in F3 & GP3 would be a bit of a sideways step for him, even with the new car. Can't say Wartique or Piria would be big losses either.

Polish websites are reporting that Patryk Szczerbiński (2010 Autosport Young Guns champion, 3rd in Formula BMW InterSteps 2011, 10th in Porsche Supercup 2012) will test for Marussia Manor.

Shows what I know, because Nick Cassidy, along with Miki Weckstrom and Ryan Cullen, is testing for Status GP. Although in my defence my main doubt was why he would be with Arden specifically :p.

Sometimes you need a step back to go forward. Let's see if this works for him.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Carlos Sainz jr. and Daniil Kvyat are the first Red Bull Junior drivers in GP3?

Ignoring Da Costa who was there already.

Edit: Oh and Stefan Wackerbauer is also a Red Bull driver.

Harvey has been confirmed at ART Lotus (or whatever they're name is now)

Think the British F3 to GP3 route is a very good one. Brit F3 gives you loads of milage (30 races a season) and miles of testing too so its a great place for learning but GP3 is needed for learning all the relevant GP2/F1 circuits.

Expecting good things from Jack, already ran most circuits in Formula BMW back in 09/10 so should be well prepared plus a new car reduces the advantage of the series returnees.

Albon is a weird one, incredible karting record suggesting he could be very, very good but was nowhere in FR2.0, i know not all karters hack it in cars but i can't remember one who has failed so badly!

This series and FR3.5 have for the last couple of seasons been slow to fill up seats. GP3 last season had 10+ seats open with less than a month until Catalunya.

I think with what Robin Frijns and Vandoorne is showing that you might not need the F3/GP3 level to move up.

I think it's easier to go to WSR if you've done year(s) in the 2.0 cars on the same tracks.

Another Venezuelan driver, this time a woman, she drove F. Abarth in Italy for Jenzer last year. On the Dutch wikipedia she is confirmed to be driving for Jenzer in GP3 this season.

But only on Wikipedia is she confirmed. Meaning she's not been confirmed by the team.

Whether confirmed or not, looking at the results from Formula Abarth last year, not much is to be ecstatic about. And she is a bit older than many of her competitors (20 yrs.).

For this level, I will argue yes. Well, if she was a title contender, maybe not, but when she is at best a mid pack contender, she is old. Especially when Mitch Evans took the title at 18, and was a winning contender a year younger. She's the oldest "confirmed" driver on the grid so far, and of those, she's the bottom just in terms of prior results.

Could see stun and win (or at least score points)? Sure! I don't think many expected Matias Lane or Aaron Vainio to do what they did last year in GP3, but in comparison, they only did 2-3 years of Formula Renault/Formula Abarth experience, opposed to Samin Gomez, who has run those series for 5.

It's two years. You aren't that different at 20 as 18, and not all 18 and 20 year olds are interchangeable. And that's before we get into issues like neuroplasticity.

Good for him, making the move into the GP2/3 ladder. Will be interesting to see how he goes, as German F3 is not the strongest F3 category.

Would be a step down IMO, but a very good move for him. While he did very well in 2011, along with his tough 2012 season, I felt he might be in the wrong series for his prior experience.

Yes, it is a step down, but it is a cheaper option for him as he lost Gravity backing (they still support him, but not financially). He needs to do something fresh because 3rd season in WSR would be rather uninspiring. Also, GP3 is closer to F1 with tyres and tracks. So in ideal it would be one step back to take two steps forwards ;)
It is quite a nice grid shaping up so far!

Also, GP3 is closer to F1 with tyres and tracks.

But a lot less horsepower and no DRS like in FR3.5. Though more GP3 champions than FR3.5 champions have made it to F1 in recent years!
