Nobody bashes Senna for a lucky set-up gamble in Monaco 1984.
Or Schumacher for Spain 1996.
Or (insert shit-load of race wins aided by the right set-up).

The cringe-worthy double standard is that for the entire history of Formula One discussions, wet races have been considered to be the true equalizer. That's where a driver can show his true talent.
But now that Vettel shows his skills in the wet (not only Monza), it is suddenly a lucky gamble.

*edit: pun not intended  *

Compare Senna and Schumacher's wet weather form with Vettel at your own peril.

I cannot recall Vettel being labelled a "wet weather master" or "rainmeister".

As I said, there are many things to admire Vettel for, Monza '08 is not one of them.

How long before someone opens a thread "Is Alonso worthy of the 3 WDC title?"

IMO both will have similar lame arguments and rebuttals because we dont know what were the exact car strengths individually.

On the face of it Renault s looked equally strong but winning a title goes beyond the car superority. Button who I rate the lowest of all top drivers also is worthy of the 2009 title whatever the perception of the car speed maybe.

Dunno about Senna but we have seen Schumi in wet , dry and all combinations in between.

Have to say Vettel is far superior than Schumi in that department . Hamilton also nudges him . Alonso and many others probably do too

Looking through the past 50 posts, the thread seems to have turned into a mud-bath. With that in mind, thread closed.
