What the hell is Haven talking about? Last Draco win was at Monaco this year, also by Mueller.

Great drive by him anyway. But judging how both of the Dracos could go 3-4s faster than the rest of the field at the start, they probably had found some special setup. Awesome job by Magnussen and Sainz as well and a good show by Sirotkin.

Impressive drives by Muller, Magnussen, Sirotkin and Sainz. I feel bad for Negrao and Da Costa, though.

Rainy Hungaroring is the tits, waiting for the start of the ELMS race. With all this rain over half of Europe now, it should be a cracking race.

Everything happens to Felix da Costa this season.  :| Perfect chance for gaining points on Vandoorne and Magnussen and there you go, the slightest of touches puts him out of the race. Not sure who was to blame there, seemed like a racing incident, 50/50 fault.

It almost looks like this season he's doing everything he can to throw away the ideal chance for a F1 seat.

How Buller wasn't even investigated for that is beyond me. Felix Da Costa was pretty unlucky to have his steering arm/suspension broken by this slight nudge, but ultimately, it was his mistake as well. He's now 86pts behind Magnussen with 125pts left to get. It's over.

Yeah I hadn't any hopes he could still be in contention for the title, but he should try to get at least 3rd behind the McLaren guys, and go for race wins. Instead things keep on going bad to worse.

He is kind of lucky in the sense that Sainz Jr. isn't as ready as him for the big step to Toro Rosso.

Sainz needs to beat Kyvat convincingly in GP3 first too. He currently has less than half of Daniil's points.

Agreed. Kvyat is looking the best prospect of the three at the moment but he's still at least a year in FR3.5 away from challenging for the FR3.5 seat. That said, if Carlos performs well in the final few FR3.5 races and Da Costa doesn't i can see Carlos getting the nod, Helmut doesn't mess about if you're not up to it.

There's no need for Red Bull to rush things. They can put Sainz and Kvyat in WSbR for next year and let Felix Da Costa have a go in the STR. It's too early for Sainz. Even though he had some nice races in WSbR this season, let's not forget how brilliant Felix Da Costa was looking last year.

But what happens if Felix Da Costa keeps performing like this, I mean this was a racing incident caused by the weather but still it was his mistake. And let's not forget he replaced Williamson because of bad results. Anyway, they (Red Bull) have a lot of talent something Sainz showed today, but it's a year to early for him and Kvyat (who I think is even better thant Sainz) so 2015 might be the year for them.

About the race, I really enjoyed it and what a star performance from Magnussen P16 to P2 is incredible considering they started behind the SC. Also a top job by Sirotkin, Sainz and Alashin, who got hit twice(!) and still finished 5th.

da Costa has locked the STR seat. Going with Sainz or Kvyat would be repeating the same mistake they did with Alguersuari and Helmut already said the seat is going to one of their junior drivers.

nice win from da Costa (also much needed for reinforcing his position), great fastest lap (at the time) and inlap to jump the mclaren juniors, who were busy fighting it out the lap before :p  too bad I was only there at the ring yesterday, would've watched the race from T1, pit exits of Magnussen and da Costa would've been amazing from the gold4 stand.

btw yesterday, mega race by Magnussen (and Sainz was great too). to sum it up, the track commentator was like "how the f*** is Magnussen up to second?!"  when he went 4 -> 2 in less than a lap IIRC (already arrived in 2nd to T1, when a lap before he was just completing an overtake for 4th there). astonishing drive.

This podium will be in Formula 1 in the next couple of years. Kevin deserves the title this season, mature drives from the lad.

Great drive by Felix Da Costa, great job after the dissapointment of yesterday. Magnussen drove like a champion and was only looking at his rival Vandoorne. Good job from Melker aswell from P10 on the grid to P4, good strategy but he's just the 4th guy in this championship even though he might be the most consistent driver so far this season.

Aleshin again?

It was at this point last year that Antonio picked up his first win, then going on to win 3 and get one 2nd place in the final 4 races.. it would be incredible if he could do that again.

Kevin is really showing himself this season, shame that he is part of the McLaren ladder since I see little hope that he can be placed in a race seat in 2014, which may lead to him being yesterdays news in 2015.

McLaren have already said they want to place Magnussen in F1 next year, don't rule out them buying a seat in one of the backmarkers. Worst case scenario they should be able and willing to buy him a ride in GP2. I think he is in good hands. What I'd worry the most about is the fact Vandoorne is emerging at the same time and not far away from him at all despite less experience. If it comes to choosing between one or the other in 1 or 2 years time by McLaren, it will be close.

Racing incident?

I would say so. Martsenko divebombed him, but i have no idea why Aleshin thought it would be a great idea to turn in at that point. Martsenko's car wasn't going to magically disappar. Oh well, good for Sirotkin.

Have to say that i didn't really understand their strategies in the race. Why were most of them pitting so early? Most i looked at needed 5 laps or so to get even close to the times they were doing on old tyres. Magnussen was half a second slower after his stop, Vandoorne even more. What was the point of that?

Somewhat curiously despite Stoffel being on the scene for a shorter period of time than Kevin, he's actually a year older than him! That's of course not to say Stoffel doesn't have greater potential but Kevin is still only 20, he has time on his side and Mclaren don't need to rush him into a seat next season, it'd be nice to see it but he could easily spend a year or two in GP2 before being eased into the big time. Although Mclaren are making noises about next year i'm struggling to see where he could fit in, unless they are willing to cough up big time.

EDIT: When i said a year older, what i actually meant was 5 months...  Although the point still stands. Sort of.

I'm actually looking forward to this race because I missed yesteryear's races here at Le Castellet. C'mon Da Costa / Sorensen!

Boring race. At the beginning I thought that Felix da Costa would fight for the lead with Magnussen, but no way. The DAMS car is too strong, but don't get me wrong the danish deserved the championship.

Now I just hope that Antonio will be confirmed at Toro Rosso for me, as a portuguese, have a fellow countryman in F1.

Kevin Magnussen have performed very very well this season, he have taken all that a very talented field have thrown at him, and emerged as a clear champion (well he will become a clear Champion once the dust settles), as I have posted before I can not see him making it to F1 next season, and I am not sure that he will actually ever make it there. He has zero sponsors, and coming from Denmark there is zero market he can cater to. I know that he is a McLaren junior driver, but I see that closer to a kiss of death than an actual path to a F1 seat.

The Magnussen family have good racing genes, hope there is a way for him to actually make it to F1.

Sirotkin did not participate in Le Castellet just so that he could do a demo run with a Sauber on a strip of just 700 meters in Sochi? Have those Russians who invest in him gone completely mad? He needs every extra race to get more experienced, this is insane.

I can see him in F1 next season, despite what i said previously! May well be at a back marker like Caterham or Marussia but i think its possible, maybe an outside bet for Force India but i think that's unlikely. As i posted previously he's still very young and has alot of potential, hopefully Mclaren will cough up some cash for him.

He's done a great job this season, i feel a little for Vandoorne as we was unlucky at the Red Bull Ring which cost him but Kevin as really turned it on lately, only off the podium once in the last 9 races, impressive speed and consistency. Infact, he's only been off the podium in 3 of the 14 races this season, hard to argue with that.

Stewards mistakenly gave drive through penalty to wrong driver. Oliver Webb was the driver who should have got it for taking advantage by a shortcut. Instead penalty was given to Matias Laine.

Spoke to soon it would seem. Kevin has been excluded from race one!!! A technical infringement on his car apparently, title fight is wide open again now. Stoffel only 18 points back now instead of 46 by my (dodgy) calculations.

A technical infringement at this point of the championship? Really fish...

Anyway, Kevin drove really well this season and deserve this championship.

Could just be an innocent mistake from one of DAMS engineers. Can't imagine its anything dodgy at this stage of the year.

Can't find tech regs online anywhere but judging from the stewards report its DRS related somehow, the report also states the section of the sporting regs that says, essentially, just because its not excluded in the regs doesn't mean its legal. Or something.  :p

And the plot thickens!

The reason for the DSQ was because..... of the paint used on the DRS flap! Seriously... http://www.autosport...t.php/id/110214

DAMS claim (and have written proof) they checked with Renault Sport Management about the paint used on the DRS flap and Renault gave it the ok apparently, not surprised they are appealing it to be honest. Presumably it was some kind of low drag paint but they don't specify.

Don't get me wrong, I have no idea if the DSQ was deserved or not and what was the cause, but it always raise suspicion when it happens in these circumstances. Would be nice to know what exactly happened, because when you read the report you know it is something about the DRS but have no idea what was wrong. They should be more clear about it.

Edit: Ok, just read the autosport article. A paint?!?!?! hummm...

I'm just guessing with the low drag paint bit!! But that's seem possible at a guess, why else use different paint on the DRS flap?

Its just pure conjecture. But a paint that creates less drag, not uncommon on planes, ships etc.

Apparently there was a resin in/under the paint that made the DRS flap stiffer. Either way, what a response from Kevin, big pressure and scrutiny from yesterday and with the title fight being back on and he goes and sticks it on pole by 0.3. The kids got a good head that's for sure.

Great response from Kevin. Could easily of let the DSQ get into his head but he dominated today, the whole weekend infact. I agree Thomas99, would love to see him in a Force India, not sure it'll happen but i hope it does. He deserves it.
