While people are concentrating on Vettel v Alonso at the front with RBR having pretty much sewn up the WCC, there are some interesting fights behind as well with three races to go. One is for P3 in WDC - Raikkonen, Webber and Hamilton. Other is for P5 in WCC - Mercedes v Sauber.

But I thought to concentrate on this one.
The big two teams with big fanbases and a great historical rivalry, so you can discuss with your hearts. Ferrari and McLaren. 3 races to go, 10 points in it. I guess after the beginning of the season, when McLaren was locking out front rows and Massa was a backmarker (bar new teams), no-one believed Ferrari has a shot at beating McLaren in the constructors. But as Murray Walker says - anything can happen in F1 and it usually does. So here you go.

I myself am quite stunned that Ferrari is in front of McLaren in WCC. Especially in 2012. How did this happen? Not only that, going by recent form Ferrari has quite a good chance of actually beating McLaren and they are not in front by accident. Can they do it? If we look back, Ferrari and McLaren have been fighting close for many seasons. In 2006 the gap was bigger, but in 2007-2009 there were only a few points between them. Obviously in 2010 and 2011 McLaren came out on top with a relatively healthy margin, but in 2012 they are together again.

What will the future bring in the ever-lasting McLaren v Ferrari battle? Often driver underperformance has been a factor here. While in 2007 McLaren collected more points (penalties aside), Kovalainen's performance hurt them in 2008 and Ferrari collected more points. In 2009 Massa got injured and this prevented them from beating McLaren. In 2010-11 Massa was underperforming, so they couldn't match McLaren. But now McLaren is losing Hamilton, so could this mean the tide will turn in Ferrari's favour in WCC once again in future years? Especially if they get Vettel in 2014...

Ferrari for me too. It'd be nice if you add a poll.

It looks good for Ferrari, but I hope to see McLaren take the challenge on, and it would be a good coup for them to claim it.

Amazingly Ferrari, who have no business doing it. Mclaren have wasted a great car this year.

The trend says Ferrari, but it should have been McLaren, they have wasted a Championship season

In Abu Dhabi McLaren had a golden chance to turn the game, but Hamilton retired and the gap further increased in Ferrari's favour. Can McLaren remain that fast in the last two races as well, gain some reliability and still do it?
