But that's not because they like Ferrari/Alonso better per se. Just because Vettel is 'damaging' Lewis' legacy atm

For me nope, I think Alonso is the most complete driver, he has driven great this year, so he deserves that. I supported Alonso in his Renault days.

Ferrari, well they are a friendly team then they used to be.

Or because Vettel/Redbull (or any one team/driver) dominating F1 is boring and not ideal for the sport. Many also believe Alonso is better therefore deserves it more, people often root for the underdog too.

So Alonso with an updated Ferrari only 0.150s faster than the terribly slow Massa?

A Great ten-tenths lap from Hamilton to get pole position! It looked like a very controlled lap, hitting all apexes! (;) )
Team-mate Button hasn't had a very good Saturday, mostly lapping around eight, nine tenths off Hamilton's times. Bringing the gap down to six plus tenths puts him sixth on the grid.

-Fantastic effort from Webber to qualify on the front-row here, this afterall being a track he doesn't particularly like. Vettel third, and today has been a bit rough for him. We'll se what comes of not being to bring the car back to the pit.

-Another brilliant fourth (Singapore) from Maldonado! When their long-runs get's your attention, usually Maldonado can pull off a great lap in Q3, and it was no different today. Great result which shows Williams have found the right front-wing again. Also quickest on the straights, so if they can glue it to the car ahead in the twisty bits....

-Nice fifth fastest from Räikkönen and Lotus! Perhaps a tenth or two was there, but this was a very, very good job. Dissapointing that Grosjean didn't improve on his last run.

-Alonso an almost disastrous seventh on the grid, which is a bit of a suprise as Ferrari brought quite a few upgrades here. Perhaps not all were found succesful enough to be bolted on and kept for qualifying?

-A very respectable eight from Rosberg

-Pic

Congratulation Lewis, really on it all weekend. Great qualifying from him
So much hatred and ill-wishing for Vettel, as expected from this forum :D

Lewis has no legacy. He will most likely win another WDC...If he only ever 2 he'd be a hall of famer. He already is, there's nothing to damage to be honest.

He is comfortably fastest on the grid in speed trap but RBs and Mclarens almost slowest

Great performance by Lewis.

Maldonado next to some of the toprunners is always interesting.

Disappointing result for Ferrari.

I counted 2 mistakes, losing it on the exit and going wide, both in S3. Still completely dominant there, what a car. :p

Not bad 3rd all problems considered
Mark will get out of the way at the start and then Seb just needs to follow Lewis home in 2nd as he's of no significance for the WDC

A shame Fernando is not any closer but if he can win a few places and keep the points difference between them under 25 there's still a chance in the last 2 races.

Kudos to Rosberg and Pastor, good drives

There is five places penalty for gearbox replacement, if that's what it is.

Maybe McLaren have decided to take a leaf out of Red Bull's book, as that sort of set-up has worked very well for them.

Button what a disgrace

McLaren can look forward to a lot of that in 2013. Unless its a dominant car, Button's nowhere.
If 2013's McLaren is only as good as 2012's, they'll struggle to be 4th in the WCC.

Yeah, the way the McLaren locked out the front row indicates the car is a total rocket. Even in the hands of Button, an average qualifier, it was absolutely on rails!

Oh wait...

Not expecting much from Button in quali but he has decent race pace, but TBF we haven't seen Perez in a McLaren yet so don't write him off just yet.

Tight one between a '94 Hakkinen / Brundell combo in recent times IMO.

Of course this is going from assumptions so let's wait till this time next year before we make our mind up?

I'd probably prefer alonso to win out of the two of them but I, and I imagine 99% of those that aren't vettel fans, would find Seb starting at the back mouth watering.

Both for the race, to see what he can do, and for the championship. A 12 point lead (if vettel failed to score) for alonso with 2 races to go and vettel in a quicker car is a much more exciting prospect than vettel extending his lead.

12 points lead? So is Alonso blitzing pass everyone and beating the dominant Hamilton now?

Why are you assuming Alonso wins?? Highly unlikely, even if Vettel doesnt score.

More likely is Alonso getting 4th or 5th, and there only being 2 or 3 points in it.

What difference does that make? Vettel was often beating Webber by the same gap and position yet that didn't seem to matter. By all accounts and purposes Webber is clearly better qualifier than Jenson.

You'd think that biasing the set-up towards high D/F should help protect the tyres and help with general stability. Having the car sliding less may make it easier to drive and enable the drivers to ride the limit in a seemingly effortless manner.

It definitely comes with a penalty.

Nope. Both Ted Kravitz and SKY crew said he can change the engine without incurring a penalty, only he won't be able to use that engine any more.

I don't know, I guess if you blow the engine limit you get the 10 place penalty anayway, but if you change the engine in parc ferme you start from the pits no matter what the engine count is.

I should have elaborated. You can change if you prove that there is seriour problem in that unit. You cannot do it for the sake of changing. You have to put a case.
