Maldo is a whopping 12 km/h faster on the straights than the car in front :o

He will probably pay for it in race, it sounds he is geared too long for heavy fuel and no DRS for most of the lap.

Brilliant lap by hami.
Good stuff from Webber, considering all his issues.
Vet seemed off the pace. Much issues?
Alonso..wtf..he better hope mad mal causes an incident.

that is good sign not a bad one, his race test in FP2 was very good, I expect a good race from him.

I hope so, but maybe Oho's point that at the start of the race his acceleration from corners will be poor is an issue

...yeah, it looks a bit silly of Alonso to big up his qualifying laps today, when Massa was just a meagre tenth and a half slower with not nearly the same number of updates on the car....

Alonso underperformed, but of course he isn't that kind of person to admit his mistakes. Should have been in front of Kimi and Maldonado with a good lap.

Well, we know exactly why he said what he said after Q.
As much as they denied it, it was pretty heated in India.

Yep, but this time, I wonder if he really should've pulled the line "I could've got one or two tenths more out of it...."

I don't know to be honest. These upgrades seems to be more like downgrades O.o. I believe Lotus was faster here fair and square. The only who massively underperformed is Button, his performance today was... just bad. Grosjean if he wouldnt choke, would be ahead of Alonso as well (matched Kimi's S1 and S2, and lost 0.5 in S3)

Differences between the cars isn't that big actually. Feel free to exaggerate, though. Anything that makes Alonso look worse, right? ;)

And there was a 3 tenth gap to the next position. Probably wasn't gonna be bridged even with a better lap, assuming his wasn't as 'perfect' as he said it was.

It's Alonso who's exaggerating. Perhaps the difference isn't too big, but then one and a half tenth isn't much either. I believe Massa got just as much out of his car-spec as Alonso did from his.

Well, my 2 cents about this qualifying:

- Hamilton is Abu Dhabi's master and a Mickey Mouse specialist

- Maldonado once again showed he is fastest driver in F1, imho

- Alonso had a average qualifying pace and should've made a better time to profit from Vettel's DSQ

- Bruno Senna and Vergne are really crappy hopeless drivers

- I can't believe Jenson Button is a champion. Worst ever by a big margin imo

Or maybe they chose a certain 7th gear perfect for quali but rather inconvinient for the race, making him a sitting duck in the race.

Under normal conditions tomorrow, Hamilton and Alonso will be on the podium for sure. Kimi or Button will probably get the last podium.

I can see McLaren doing team orders to get Button the win if hes close, so they have some momentum for next season though.

Apart from a few other simple questions, let me ask: why should Lewis follow those orders? And why and how should McLaren expect Lewis to follow those orders?

This is the bad thing about forums. Fanboyism makes people distort things. Rubens was destroyed by Maldonado in many qualifying in 2010(with gaps over 0,5s in some 2 or 3 ocasions) and went into Q3 some half dozen of times while Barrichello none, as far as I remember now. The "Q3 achieving" times might have had slight different numbers but the point is that Maldonado showed in 2010, in his first F1 year, that he had way more speed than Rubens

Webber will underperform like always and finish 5th-6th at best.

It won't be obvious team orders, something like Australia 2010 or Hungary 2011.

Somehow he cheated his way to 34 podiums :D

And Lewis, of course, is easily deluded

Let's see first if Jenson will have a chance to make this scenario work from his grid position ;)

You can hardly substantiate that claim after one qualifying session, Lewis is a better at this track definitely but Button deserved his championship

I think Lewis is the fastest or co-fastest(with Maldonado) on the Mickey Mouse stuff but even considering that, Jenson have looked horrible in more than couple of ocasions this season. When he's off the pace, he's really off the pace.

Why are you making this so difficult? The amount of times he's gone backwards while in a great car is beyond staggering.

Wow so much hate for Mark in here from some people. An average driver doesn't manage to win Monaco twice which is arguably the hardest GP requiring the most skill to keep it out of the barriers. Sure his starts are his achilles heel but they have improved lately. He has done some memorable drives over the years including quite a few from way down the field. His smacking of the field in Germany when he won his 1st F1 GP after getting a drive through penalty was amazing. Theres no shame in being beaten by Seb who could quite possibly go down as the greatest F1 driver of all time. You can't argue that he has had is fair share of rotten luck over the years either. The amount of times he has had KERS issues for example is ridiculous. The fact that Mark is continuing to box on qualifying well and giving Seb a run for his money is testament to his talent. Give it a rest.

Great qualli from Mark and hopefully a great start and race from him too.

Well, even Bruno being horrible, when he qualify 15th or 17th(as in Barcelona and etc as in Singapore) and Pastor is up there in front rows, then you see how fast this guy is.

Thankfully Bruno won't likely continue in the team so we'll see how the hyped Bottas is compared to Pastor

Ah the great Red Bull, which has, up until this year, only ever had technical issues on one car: Mark's. If anything, it suggests that the cars are far from equal when one can sail off into the lead and the other is constantly having parts of it shut down for no apparent reason.

Well, actually Vettel's had two major malfuntions in the races. One in Valencia and one in Monza

He is contracted to follow such orders if issued? But I think there is about snow balls chance in hell of McLaren issuing team orders with really nothing worth while to gain and consequent massive PR cost.
