(If he runs series with 65kgs, that's not bad at all. I doubt 65 is his maximum press.)

True, you gotta take his routine into account.

1st win Bruce McLaren 1968 Belgium
50th Alain Prost 1986 Monaco
100th Ayrton Senna 1993 Brazil
..the most important drivers/persons in McLaren history, and now...
150th Fernando Alonso 2007  I guess team would prefer Hamilton in this place ,it was in the famous Monaco GP in 2007.

I bet looking at that list drives Ron mad, not going perfectly from mp4-1 to mp4-27!

I believe this new FW is primarily introduced to improve our race pace. It looks like it worked as expected. Both Lewis and Button were very quick in the race which is postive sign. I hope Interlagos will be dry. I expect Button to be very close to Lewis there hopefully we will make 1-3 at least and finish 2nd in WCC.

As we all know Ron very much wanted to be sure that Fernando would win that one - almost as much as Lewis wanted to win there :D
It's there that all the animosity started.....

He's got a good arch in his back but he really needs to lose the pad around the centre of the bar.

I would say I hope that's his warm up weight but then they are all little guys so maybe it's not so bad :p

Interesting thought - I wonder how important fitness actually is in F1, I mean if Perez is a long way short of JB and LH has it actually affected is performances in anyway or is the whole thing overblown I wonder?

Looks like they have the old wing again. Wondering if it's some kind of high and low-DF Setup? Maybe Weather?

Looking pretty good, you'd think they will switch Jensons set up back to high DF tomorrow.

I think the idea was that a low-downforce setup would make overtaking along the pit straight and into t1 easier (where there is no DRS), but it seems to lose too much time over the lap overall to be worthwhile, and if you do overtake at that point it would open up being repassed under DRS anyway.

All that plus the threat of rain makes the higher downforce package the better choice.

That reminds me of the strategy in Brazil 2008 that almost cost Lewis the WDC...

It's so clearly the better choice that it's hard to understand why they wasted Jenson's FP2 time.

NB in FP1, Jenson was similar to Lewis in speed trap, 10kph slower than in FP2.

On Skysports Lewis implied it was Jenson's decision to try to the Spa rear wing, that he was of the belief you need as much downforce as you can pile on at Interlagos and said (to paraphrase) that Jenson would probably head back in his direction set-up wise.

As long as they find these things out in practice then there's no problem. FP1 showed the car's strong here, it just depends on how the track evolves during the weekend...and what it's like in the wet.

Posted this in the Lewis thread, but it belongs here as well..

The sad truth about the MP4-28 will be that no matter how well the two drivers do in it, you'll have pretty strong evidence based on the last 3 years that there will be time "left on the table" at the end of Q3. Even if Button or Perez sticks it on pole, i'll always have the nagging feeling that "Lewis wouldve gotten more out of it". McLaren will sorely miss that benchmark, because the days when Lewis didnt get the max (or more than Button did at least) out of the cars potential pace are few and very far between. Sure there was the occasional time Button outqualified Lewis on pure pace, but by and large, Lewis ended up ahead of Jenson, a fair amount of times by quite a large margin also. Imagine if Lewis wasnt in the MP4-27 this year, and all we had to judge it by was Buttons best results! We'd mostly be saying that this car is incredibly inconsistent, one minute, a world beater, the next, Its trundling along between the 3rd and 6th rows.

McLaren... Sheesh!

Well, I doubt that Jenson makes these decisions entirely on his own, so you could say that it was Jenson and his engineers who messed up.

But it does seem to be a feature of the way McLaren is run, that there is no voice of common sense.

I can't imagine that, if Vettel talked about trying low downforce, someone wouldn't have talked him out of it.

The car will win this race.

Hamilton will win it if won´t rain, when the car should be slower than in dry.

I think Vettel will be the new WDC.

But Hamilton miss the best chance perhaps in his life to win an WDC, his worst luck this year was amazing!

Shit dont get me started... I find myself occasionally just getting (ir)rationally PISSED off at McLarens incompetence this year. From the ****ed up pit stops for the first third of the year, the operational/strategy errors, plain bad luck (Germany tire popping) and the piss poor reliability it's quite appalling really. This world championship shouldve been over with at least 2 races to spare, but instead, here we are, ruing what could've been. It pisses me off to no end.

2X WDC at least... 3 if the wheel rim hadnt failed back at Catalunya 2010, (or a few other instances) but goddamn, if this year isn't an open goal that McLaren have wasted I don't know what is... Er, actually, I do, 2003, 2005, 2007 all spring to mind as well.

Why do I still support this team? I guess about 20 years is too long...

Based purely off the pace of the cars, this season has been Mclaren's to lose, and they have managed to do so, spectacularly.

McLaren will get eaten alive on race day with so little downforce.

I would have expected McLaren to shave off some kph from Lewis' top speed... instead they've increased their top speed by 3-4 kph.

Fair enough, then since there's no DRS on race day, why don't you make the gears shorter?

Maybe it was even too short for non-DRS use? Maybe they had just tried different settings.
