If Maldonado doesn't behave like a Good Pastor today, Alonso will be P2 after 5 laps...

Seb's tyres will cop a flogging tonight since he won't have the luxury of pole so a points finish would be a good result.

He will start on new primes, and those tires could perhaps last the entire race, so that shouldn't be a problem

Or Alonso will be out by turn 2.

But he would be a Good Pastor in the latter case from my humble POV :p
Just kidding ;)

I think Maldonado is a dark horse for the win here.

Webber will go backwards unless he can gap whomever is behind him once DRS is enabled.

Vettel will get into the points, but not big points.

I'd like to know what role Webber will play in Vettel's race? If Webber stays ahead of Alonso then he would be taking points from Vettel's competitor. However if due to a poor start etc. he found himself 3rd/4th and it looked like Webber couldn't realistically challenge for the win, would Webber play a supporting role and go slow bunching up the cars behind?
I can't see it taking Vettel more than 3 laps to get past the HRTs, Caterham's, Marussia's and Toro Rossos. If Webber can slow down the rest of the pack then it could play to Vettel's advantage.

When exactly will Vettel get a green light to start?

Gear ratio's change costs 5 places on the grid after Friday night. But as he is starting from the pits, this becomes irrelevant. He will have them changed as well as the gearbox and will be given a 9th engine.

Thanks mate :)

I think it would be quite hard for Mark to slow down the field and not get overtaken himself - remember that he will be a sitting duck in the DRS zones because his RB8 will have no top speed. Vettel's car will though as they've changed the gear ratios, but if Mark has somehow caused the field to bunch up then most cars will be running with DRS on the straights - so that might make things harder for Vettel anyway...

Wow sounds like Horner is pretty much stating Renault miscalculated the amount of fuel.

Is it true that the leader has to cross first sector line before Seb gets green light?

It is not like the FIA could penalize him further and ask him to start from the back of the grandstand.

By virtue of starting last or from the pit lane, his team will have a free hand to change everything on the car.

I think that i came up with that yesterday. I need someone to confirm if that's the case. Possibly I've mixed the rules with some other series. :D

Edit: If the light would go green at the same moment when the grid lights goes off, Vettel could get the lead so there must be some delay with the lights.

I am buzzing for this one, couldn't get to sleep last night. So looking forwards to seeing Vettel charge through the field.

I am actually the opposite. I have no expectation of him getting into the points and will be happy if he can bring home 1,2,4 or 6 pts.

It will be a terrible race only if Hamilton or Webber could not win it from the front row. Otherwise, at most Alonso will walk away with a 5pt advantage with 2 races to go.

Green light goes on when the last car passes in front of box exit, no?

This box exit is far away, but the slow section before the straight will let Vettel reach backmakers at 1st lap.

As it's been posted several times already: Seb can start the race once the last of the other cars passes the start line.

and if he thinks about the win....well these are the drivers he will need to get past (In reverse order)

01 Lewis Hamilton
02 Mark Webber
03 Pastor Maldonado
04 Kimi Raikkonen
05 Jenson Button
06 Fernando Alonso
07 Nico Rosberg
08 Felipe Massa

I think his chances are bleak...

Interesting fact of the day
Assuming Vettel doesn't score any points today, Alonso will need to finish 3rd or higher to overtake him in points.
In all three previous Abu Dhabi Grand Prix's, Alonso has never finished higher than 5th.

Will be interesting to see how Seb's tyres hold up with the suspension changes. Going to be an interesting race, so long as Maldo or RoGro don't eff it up for everyone.

Edit: thanks John! I was about to say the same!!

I thought this was going to be boring, but taking all of Red Bull's brain trust and changing everything you can to reduce drag and enhance overtaking ability should make a car that will pass a lot of cars.

If you are behind a Merc for more than a couple of laps, you race is almost over. ;)

But I don't think there is a high risk of Alonso falling back and not being able to overtake. The ever optimistic Rosberg says that even points will be very difficult.

So many potential booby traps for Alonso. Other than Vettel, the running order at the end of lap one should determine the result unless McLaren screw up Hamilton's race.
