Felt bad for Melandri. I had a feeling he was about to start a good charge. At least Checa seems okay, but bnged.

Melandri should be good in the race still. BMW's make strong starts.

Despite his strong qualifying, I think Laverty will fall back. I'm interested in seeing if the Kawasaki has done anything to improve their long run pace. Sykes doesn't seem to have the qualifying advantage he used to, and I hope that means a payoff in the races, but we'll see.

WSS or sleeping? Hard to decide....

I hope you're watching this. :)

Great for Guintoli by the way, Aprilia 1-2-3 might have been a different story if Checa and Melandri finished, but they are strong regardless.

Yeas, I watched :drunk:

Poor MV...

I thought before the race that Lowes can't be beaten here, but Sofu prove against who is the king in WSS.

BTW imho Foret could ride with them if he has a good start.

I feel sorry for Talma, Imho he could finish also in good position (4-8th place).

A very mid-00's-Rossi type performance from Laverty in race 2.
Sit back till the last couple of laps, take the lead, break the Lap Record and win.

That was great racing :) Hopefuly Checa will be fit for round 2 in 7 weeks. Honnestly I didn't expect the BMW Italia bike to be competitive right from the start. Nice duel between the Aprilia boys, they're both cool lads but if they keep fighting like this week in week out, I wonder if things might change.

Impressive win by Sofuoglu in WSS, but that Kawasaki is a rocket down the straights. Van den Mark will be the kid to watch this year.

Actually Checa was "only" knocked-out, he woke up, doesn't remember the crash but he's ok, no serious injury. :)

Say what you will about Melandri but it takes some class to go and check on the guy that just took you out.

Glad to hear Checa isn't hurt.

Some good races today, not as spectacular as wsbk can be sometimes but a good start. A shame Checa got out that way so we couldnt see what the new duke can do. The Aprilia army looked really strong today very impressive.

And as for Wss watch out for van de mark this year. Great too see a dutch guy do so well its been too long. :-)

The races were "MotoGP"esque actually, but still good enough. Aprilia really had it sorted.
Melandri probably rode his socks off simply to be able to catch and keep up.

Serious, a small group broke away and spent the entire race lapping incredibly fast and consistent. Laverty messed with the script in race two, but it was more or less like that. I enjoyed all three races by the way.

about.
thats quite vague.
The first 4 were definitely covered by more than 2 seconds today anyway.

Last years moto gp race in Jerez the top four were covered by about 2 seconds.

I enjoy world supers as much as anyone but at the end of the day more than half of the sparsely populated grid (looks like being 17 this year) are Grand Prix rejects (Camier, Laverty, Melandri, Fabrizio, Guintoli, Cluzel, Haslam, Davies, Neukirchner) and none of them race at anything like a Moto Gp winning level.

Reject
Verb
Dismiss as inadequate, inappropriate, or not to one's taste.
Noun
A person or thing dismissed as failing to meet standards or satisfy tastes

Ducati sacked him.
Kawasaki ditched him and left
Gresini didnt want him anymore, and neither did anyone else in GPs

Right, 2.2s between Laverty and Fabrizio (4th) in race 2.

True about Jerez, 2.4s between Stoner and Crutchlow, even though there was zero overtaking ;)

1: that race begin in wet track conditions and it was almost a year ago.

2: The 3rd place man Pedrosa has more than 2sec disadvantage in the end:

1. Casey Stoner AUS Repsol Honda (RC213V) 45m 33.897s
2. Jorge Lorenzo ESP Yamaha Factory Racing (YZR-M1) 45m 34.844s
3. Dani Pedrosa ESP Repsol Honda (RC213V) 45m 35.960s

3: 5th place man Dovi had finish almost 20 sec after Casey.

http://www.crash.net...ce_results.html

PS: in R2 the gap between Guintoli and Fabrizio was 2.282s

http://www.crash.net..._results_1.html

in race 1 nine, in race 2 ten rider finish within 20 sec.

Of course they did.
There are many very very good motorcycle racers in the world - theres about 12 or 13 of them in WSB so it stands to reason that on big compliant modified road bikes using rider friendly tyres that there wont be much to separate them.

Moto GP also has 14 or 15 very very good motorcycle racers. But it also has 4 or 5 excellent motorcycle racers. And they are always going to finish well ahead of the very very good ones. Especially when they are riding the most demanding motorcycles in the world......

Nice consideration by Marco especially having been just punted off from the rear no fault of his own.

Can I ask again why Autosport do not cover WSB?

Because real racing is actually less important than the smallest fart from the F1 paddock I guess.

I've always thought that Autosport should expand their two wheeled coverage. What's the point in having just a token MotoGP news feed? If you're going to do it, you should do it properly or not at all. :)

The Ducati looked good until the accident.

Aprilia looked too dominant, but its early to draw conclusions. I remember thinking they would dominate after this race last year, when Max drove through the field from last, but the season didn't really turn out that way. Hopefully a 3-way fight with BMW and Ducati.

The Honda looked off the pace, and Camier disappointed in the races on the Suzuki, considering testing pace.

If I remember correctly, the Aprilia was very hard to set up last season.
With 4 (or 5?) days pre-race running Phillip Island provides the best opportunity all season to find the perfect set-up.
All that power doesn't do any harm either. Even the BMW's were struggling to pass them on the straights

So they say. I think it's a little strange how Honda are developing HRC software on Rea and Haslam's bikes, when all that'll almost certainly be chucked in the bin for the 2014 rules. They must be expecting fast results, or why bother? Perhaps the Australian round came too early in the year.

I'm still sorta expecting the Kawasakis and Hondas to be racing for victories by the European bit of the season. Rather frustrating to see so little of the Panigale, too. ):

It's better but the only MotoGP bike they are really beating is Bradley Smith and they are slower than Sepang 1 test
Espargaro faster than Ducati Jr????
