Sykes and Edwards in the same team would make for some interesting viewing!!!

That would be the case if Edwards was a couple of years younger. He had his time, unless he surprises me this year.

I wasn't talking about the racing, I was thinking more about the PR & interviews!

He stole that quote from Jeremy Burgess. He said that to Rossi in 2001 at the 8 hours. Edwards had some health issues at that time because of the heat and humidity in Suzuka. The whole story is in Rossi's book.

What exactly would MotoGP gain from having Kawasaki back?

You're basically asking what MotoGP gains from having more bikes than just the 4 factory Honda and Yahama.

I don't recall the show being any better than they were here. Seems like just more money for the others to counter with their own, pushing more of the privateers out.

If Suzuki or Kawasaki are competitive over Ducati then there's no way that Ducati will stay.

I follow Honda in MotoGP. I'm interested in how the Honda is doing, going backwards, forwards, new technology? I'm sure Suzuki and Kawazaki have their fans as well. More than CRT fans anyhow.

Yet the groaning around here is about how the show suffers as a whole, not that someone's favorite brand isn't represented.

Funny that you mention Honda, they're the reason that we get 4 competitive bikes each season.

The simple solution is to force each manufacturer to supply competitive engines a la F1 and like Kenny Roberts wanted. Honda and Yamaha have too much pull though, Dorna could never push such a thing through.

The "show" is not only about who fights for the win, at least not for me.

TBH it needs more factories and more engines for privateer frame builders (not CRTs), I would hope that one could follow the other if everyone got their collective ass in gear.

Which they probably never will, sadly.

All good and well but you think Honda and Yamaha are ever going to have a situation where the customer beats the factory, like Merc and McLaren and Red Bull and Renault did in F1?

It used to happen, most recently in 2006 when Melandri and Elias won races on customer Hondas.

Yes, to a whopping 4 riders/bikes. I'm sure they'll be the latest and greatest spec too.

Thats 8 Yamahas, 8 Hondas, 4 Ducati, + perhaps 2 Kawazaki and 2 Suzuki. That's 24 bikes.

Im really glad turkey is back on a calender. Its a great track very challenging. Too bad it's all about spectator numbers these days because this really is on of the finest new tracks that have been build.

It's going to be interesting to see how competitive the 4 Honda 'production racing' bikes are... looking at what they are changing for a 'production' bike, one wonders if they will be better than the ART bikes that are currently on the grid. The Aprilia souped up production bike is getting disturbingly close on the lap charts to the Ducati...

Customer?
Those belonged to someone other than HRC?
They were different to what Bradl is riding?

A customer is someone who pays for a good or service
Gresini pay honda for the use of a bike which makes them a customer

It's not rocket science

So where is someone other than HRC winning? I don't see anyone beating HRC other than HRC. I still don't see anywhere where Honda or Yamaha are or will be supplying engines to anyone who can take them off, let alone beat then in the way Renault supplied Red Bull and Mercedes supplied McLaren and were beaten by them.

Are you trying to be obtuse? I said competitive, there's no indication that they'll be anywhere near that. You're also well aware that the winning Hondas from 2006 were works bikes placed at "customer" teams with HRC crews.

I think the only real solution the production racers provide is saving Gresini the embarrassment (or maybe LCR if they go to two bikes) of having to build a CRT bike with a CBR1000 engine... I vaguely recall HRC taking a dim view of Gresini proposing using a rival manufacturer's engine in their bike.

Will they really be any more competitive than the existing CRT bikes? Aspar is getting pretty close...

Theres also been no indication that they won't be competitive either although Yamaha have said that they are supplying YZR-M1 engines which means that at worst they'll supply the same spec as Tech 3 have now.
And anyway, why would they want to supply a slow engine?

I prefer it to the engine freeze F1. I'll take two nr. 1 Yamahas and Hondas, two nr two Yamahas and Hondas, and four also ran Yamaha and Hondas + the rest, than what F1 have become.

For the same reason that they supply second rate bikes: It makes them appear as though they're beating a legitimate field of bikes.

The legal soap opera between Kevin Schwantz and Circuit of the Americas takes on a new twist. The abridged version is that Schwantz was at the Moto GP test to work with a team, with credential, and was kicked out by the track. Part I, courtesy Cycle News:

Kevin Schwantz speaks

CotA Responds ...

Some reports have noted that social media comments have largely been in favor of No. 34 in this case.

Alotta controversy with COTA since the beginning of talks to build the place. The F1 race seemed like success. I guess asking to have a drama free Moto GP race is too much. I wonder if Schwantz has a case? Go34

Anybody going to race? I'm hopin to get to Indy this august.
