Shawn Muir Racing has a deal with Yamaha to run two bikes in BSB (and at least one entry for the road racing season). Great news.

No word on riders, or whether Swan will return as title sponsor. Difficult to think of any obvious names for the BSB team, if Tommy Hill is committed to his sabbatical and Noriyuki Haga is on his way out. James Ellison might fancy a return to SMR, and I'd like to see someone like Bridewell or Jack Kennedy from BSS given a works superbike to ride. Or Gino Rea, for that matter.

Ellison/Bridewell sounds like the lineup I'd go for.

He told me he will not be testing his Suzuki before the Phillip Island tests in January.

British Supersport looks like it'll be a class to follow next year. Easton and Seeley joining a very closely-matched bunch of regulars. Don't know if I've seen anything very special from Taylor Mackenzie yet but he was quite handy on a 125.

I'd like to see some reporting of who's secured a Moto3 bike for the Motostar championship this year. Actually, in the TV coverage it was really annoying how the graphics couldn't differentiate between a 125 or 250 four-stroke, when the bike was just named "Honda" or "KTM". Visually they're very very similar and sometimes it's hard to pick out the individual engine notes from the broadcast pictures.

That hungarian guy wrote that who has personal contact to some guys in WSS/GP paddock. So it is not an official information.

Bryan Staring is now confirmed. Wow, didn't see that coming.

I don't think that there were many out there anyway, Kyle Ryde and one other as far as I know, well for the majority of the season anyway.

In the Assen round I think a few of the Dutch championship riders were on them, and it drove me crazy. Bradley Ray got one for the last couple(?) of races and destroyed the competition. As the class develops and more machinery becomes available I'd expect to see a few more Moto3 bikes on national-level grids. I'm sure all the Eurosport producers read this thread so this is my advice to them.

Forgot about Ray being on a Moto3 machine. I suppose the quicker everyone in the class is on the 4 stroke, the better in one way but in another it'll be a shame to see the strokers go.

OK, so this is definitely happening then. Apparently they'll wait until tomorrow to make it official even though he was testing today and seems over the moon with the bike and team. :drunk:

Going by that photo and his times he's definitely running an illegal engine, he's too light, has special tyres, has a better engine than everyone else, and is cheating with his electronics! :p

Repsol announced they are revamping their livery for HRC next year. So expect Marquez and Pedrosa to be sporting something completely new next year. I just hope they don't go with the same guy who designed their Aragon GP 2011 one-off livery...

See below.

I really liked the 2008 season finale 1969 inspired 'escuderia repsol' livery. I hope they ditch the orange and go retro style with something like this.

Orange is still very much Repsol's corporate colour so I doubt that'll go. The dark blue/black seems to have disappeared from their branding so based on that we might see something like the Aragon paint scheme in 2011.

Cristian Gabbarini, the longtime crew chief for Casey Stoner, has been promoted to a senior role in the Honda MotoGP team structure after Stoner's retirement. Gabbarini was Stoner's top wrench from 2007-10 at Ducati and 2011-12 at Honda, tuning Stoner to two World Championships.

Gabbarini will serve as a liaison between HRC and the Repsol Honda team, working closely with rookie Marc Marquez in 2013. The expected move comes as Marquez is bringing his crew chief, Santi Hernandez, from Moto2 into the Repsol Honda MotoGP garage next season. But the rest of Stoner's crew will stay put, turning wrenches and poring over laptops with Marquez.

"This is not an easy job and quite scary, also because it is the first time that the Japanese have allowed a European to do a job like this," Gabbarini told British media.

Can't say that I do, I mean it's not like we can say he was riding well even when his luck was good.

If he struggled on a Yamaha, how will he cope on a Ducati?

Dorna have announced their entry lists for the Grand Prix classes.

*No sign of Hafizh Syahrin :(

*Rins and Alex Marquez in the Marc Marquez Junior Team are now on KTMs, be afraid

*Yuki Takahashi's showing up with a Moriwaki prepared by Tady Okada and supported by Honda Asia. Moriwaki have always had close links to Honda so having them as a chassis supplier for the Japanese version of Team Italia would make some degree of sense. God knows what everyone else in the paddock will think about one team being sponsored by the series's exclusive engine supplier.

*2011 Moto2 champions Kiefer Racing have abandoned the class and are now running Moto3 Kalex KTMs for Toni Finsterbusch and Red Bull Rookie Florian Alt. They better do well is all I'm saying.

Hayden behind WSBK duo on day one, Dovizioso misses out

http://www.crash.net...misses_out.html

from the article:

Hayden set a best of 1m 40.855s while evaluating chassis and swingarm developments for his factory Ducati.

But it was Aprilia WSBK rider Eugene Laverty who led the way with a 1m 40.185s Wednesday best, followed by Kawasaki ZX-10R star Tom Sykes on a 1m 40.400s.

Laverty - whose brother Michael was today listed on the 2013 MotoGP entry list with PBM - is thought to have used a soft tyre to set his pace-setting lap.

However Sykes set his best 'on a race tyre during the final morning'.

"I did a 1m 40.4 on an SC1 tyre and although we went to try an SC0 [qualifying] tyre at the end of the day, with the low sun and so on, I thought we would give it a miss," Sykes explained.

Sykes had been credited as quickest with low 1m 41s laps on the previous two days of testing. The Jerez MotoGP race lap record is a 1m 39.731s.

So the WSB Aprilia is beat the current DucatiMGP and only 0,45 from the GP lap record...

:(

I think there's a couple of things that can't be disputed about Spies this year:

1. The riding was underwhelming when the bike stayed together.

2. The bike broke often and in strange ways.

I'm sure there's some juicy details to come out, just a matter of time. It sounded like near-mutiny after Laguna Seca.

From what I heard, his sponsor Petronas already has a plan for him to go to moto2/motoGP? in 2014. There is also rumour that Aspar team boss meet him after Malaysian GP to see if they can secure him for future.

Jakub Smrz and Mark Aitchison will ride for Splitlaith-Redmond Aprilia in BSB.

Smrz seemed to be going fairly quickly on it this year. It'll be interesting to see what he can do with a full programme this year.
