Great job by Cal - got to laugh that his seat is at risk.

Alex Esp is sure looking wasted on a CRT. Shame there's not a seat on a decent bike available.

Pol looks like he's back to form around here and unbeatable, so 2nd is a great result for Scott - a podium tomorrow would be perfect damage limitation. Thought Terol was going to become a championship threat, but he's down in 20th!

Dani Boi, what a lap.

Get Cal on Rossi' bike next season, Jlo needs some help against the Honda men.

He got a tow from Rossi iirc. And Dovi was on the first row in the last 2 GP. They're ok over one lap but in the race they lose ground quick.

Engine trouble brewing for factory Yamaha's

The defense of Jorge Lorenzo's MotoGP championship faces a further obstacle. In addition to having to fend off an unleashed Dani Pedrosa and the rookie sensation that is Marc Marquez, the Yamaha Factory Racing rider now has to deal with a looming engine shortage as well. Just six race weekends into the 2013 MotoGP season, and the factory Yamaha riders are already using the fourth of the five engines which they have for the entire season. With two thirds of the season left to go, the Yamaha men will face a serious challenge in making their engines last until the end of the season

Didn't they have trouble last year too? I think they will be ok, but losing an engine this early in the season might send them on the back foot.

It is a totally pathetic Ezpeleta rule isn't it, with all the money spent on the sport! As if making a few more engines is going to cost millions!

They are all built fromt he same dyes so really whats the issue!

Great lap from Dani, I do hope now that Repsol Honda don't allow Marquez to use his data as they have been doing all year so far, you need to start looking after your man Puig, as Marquez has already had more than enough favours in his GP career to date

Wasn't the Yamaha motor designed before the idea of engine limits was even discussed.
And wasn't it Honda that pushed for those limits?
Honest questions.

Pathetic rules. Aren't they supposed to be racing prototypes? The last thing I'd expect from a prototype would be reliability. Never mind, I won't be following or watching MotoGP next year.

BTW - I hear that the *free* BT broadband access to MotoGP will only last for the first season. The following season BT will want paying. Be careful of signing up to BT phone/broadband - they expect you to sign an 18 month contract. Leave early and you'll have to pay penalties.

Might as well call it the Honda Motorcycle championships. I very much doubt if Moto2 will ever be opened to other manufacturers. Thank gawd Honda are being stuffed in Moto3.

Luckily for you you'll only have to suffer through another 13 races until this nightmare you call being a Moto GP "fan" is over.....

It was pushed by the MSMA in the name of cost cutting and agreed to by the manufacturers. Yamaha's problem is a design flaw, something small that only raised its head when they "actually" did a full race. All RCV213Vs are only on their second engine.

As a result of Yamaha's engine problems the story goes that the seamless gearbox won't be raced this year. The may test it at the Misano test and only race it 2014

I don't see a problem with the rule itself, it's a way to focus racing R&D resources on areas more relevant to their street bikes, e.g. reliability. I'm sure everyone would agree it's not compromising the speed of the bikes in a way that is a apparent to the public, so as both a viewer and a rider that makes sense to me. It's just Yamaha's fault that they failed to produce engines with sufficient reliability to be competitive under these rules.

It will be between Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Marquez.
I doubt Crutchlow and Rossi can follow them :|

He needs to improve his consistency. But he has the speed. Was Crutchlow wreck in the same corner as Hayden and Bautista? I missed it because of the commercial break

Well he does now. Prior to this race, his worst race result has been fifth.

No excuse for that. Riders have been going down all day, all around the track. Crutchlow should have been fully aware of the problems before he got on his bike.

Instead of being a fan of the likes of Cal, Iannone and Spies, I should be a fan of those top three spanish dudes so that my supporter bad luck can rub on them too.

I'm not usually that guy that whines about tracks but my god Barcelona.

Even the bikes have outgrown this track. They should look into modifications.

Solid race by Smith, though partly thanked by all the DNF's in front of him. Surprised me that he managed to overtake Dovizioso in the end.

More hairpins maybe?

I don't see what is wrong with the track, it is one of the only fast and flowing tracks left. The final two turns are legendary.

It's true that for the most part races these days are long time trials rather than racecraft battles, I think that's partly why Rossi isn't competitive. We need more battles, in that sense Marquez is adding a lot of excitement to the sport. Lorenzo's riding specially is just too "perfect", and he's probably not on the fastest bike, he deserves a lot of credit for what he's doing this year, even considering this is a guy with two top class tropies already at 25.

Well, it doesn't look like Rossi is going to be winning anytime soon, he's certainly no longer in the class of the top 3 today speedwise.

Slight improvement by Smith, though somewhat flattered by circumstances.

Maybe I just wasn't in the mood, but I was slightly bored with all the bike racing today.

It's sad to compare the glories of 125 and 250s from the past to now. It's not going to get better is it? Moto2 is in its fourth season, and what's changed since 2010? The only thing I can see is less bikes on the grid, with the same spec engine.

The reason Rossi is so popular is because he would play with the field,he knew he was faster,so he would slow down to the competition and race them,he did it from 125 through to the early part of Motogp, that's why fans love him.The riders today are too fast for that type of playing around, they have to go all out from start to finish, that's one of the reason the races are not that entertaining.
